Unexpected Finishes

After finishing up the row on Peacock Cypher I was at loose ends! It wasn't yet time to start the next block on Crabby and I can't bring myself to cheat; not even by a few hours! I remembered these little kitties languishing in my WIP box. The cross stitches were completed a couple of years (years! ~ OMG) ago and all they needed was a bit of backstitching to finish them off. Admittedly, Margaret Sherry designs have tedious backstitching but that's really no excuse, is it? These kitties are an Heritage Stitchcraft Coaster kit called Margaret Sherry 'Cats'.

Holly had a great suggestion for my dread of 'up-stitching' in the comments on my last post. Turn the fabric and pattern upside down and stitch down instead. I've heard about this technique before but never tried it. I think I'll give it a go. Thanks, Holly!

I just love the kitties!! As you know, I made the same piece you have in your header. I changed the colors a bit to match my kitty. I think Sherry's critters are just too adorable for words!!

Margaret Sherry kitties are sooo cute! I did manage to find a copy of Crafty Cat, but haven't stitched it yet. I'd love to find more of her patterns

I'm glad you liked the up-side down idea and hope it works out for you.

Margaret Sherry's are just the cutest. You did a great job.
Never heard the term 'upstitching', but I do it all the time... Works fine but reminds me of sitting backwards on a train or a bus... it's just not right!

Cute kitties! The backstitching does give them a lot of fluff and personality!

Your kitties are so cute but I definitely understand the whole backstitching thing ;o)

Yes, I've heard of that technique but I've never done it myself. Lmk how it works.

*squeal* TOO cute!! Love them, love them. The Margaret Sherry backstitching is a pain, but essential to the cuteness. *sigh*

LOL, these cats just made my day! So cute, unlike the snobby cat designs on my blog. Did you see the expression of those snobby cats in the Jim Shore Publications? hehe

So when are you going to make a FoodPyramid cross stitch?

I have that coaster set too...those sure are cute! (As all MS cats are!) I highly recommend "up-stitching" on large projects. I do it on all my Chatelaines, and also now on Growth Rings. Anything I can't reach the upper left corner in fact. It's that or get longer arms!

TOO cute :) Congratulations on your finishes :)
