Spring Chicken

I think my eyes actually bugged out when I saw the chicken potholder that Annie crocheted. I know, for a fact, I gushed over it in the comments. The next thing I know Annie is offering to send him to me! OMG! Mine? All MINE??? Now, I know the mechanics of crochet and I can follow a pattern but it's the doing it that kills me. It makes my hands ache and fall asleep. So creating a Spring Chicken for myself is impossible. Isn't it great that stitching bloggers make the best friends to have? Thank you so much Annie. I adore this silly chicken with all my heart!

March Blows

After a gentle reminder from Cathey that I was really running out time to finish my March Snapper Year...I buckled down and stitched. I couldn't figure out why the chicken is pooping a pitchfork. Then it hit me, a foot? Wait, is it a foot? I hope that's a foot.

Since I've stitched three months worth, it's time for a quarterly photo! I like how each quarter rhymes. I'm having fun!

Now, on to finishing up that strawberry pincushion! For those that asked, the design is from The Cross Stitcher magazine, June 2009. (This is the US magazine.) Called Vegetable Trinket Cards by Kreinik. The design was charted for Kreinik Silk Mori. As most of you know, I'm horribly allergic to silk so I've converted it into DMC.

Great Big Thanks to all those sweethearts that have nominated me for blog awards. I am so touched and honored that you thought of me and thought my blog was deserving. ***hugs*** I am so sorry... but I am not going to play along at this time. It has been hard enough just keeping up with my blog reader and my stitching right now. I am hoping for more free time in the near future.

My Ma still blows

I feel really guilty for not stitching on my Snapper Year. I got a little distracted with strawberries. So, my March WIP is still stuck on that rude phrase and the new one is growing quickly. Well, not TOO quickly! I admit, frogs invaded for a short time because I thought I was so above checking the pattern, photographic memory ~ you know? NOT!

When this is finished (maybe a pin pillow?) I'm thinking of sending this to someone who reads this blog...

Swap received and a Spring blizzard

Remember all the lovely Christmas ornaments I received in January? This month it was my turn to send to Lisa. I really enjoyed stitching for her! I'm so happy you liked it, Lisa! I've stitched this ornament once before but in green...and Glenna is now the owner of that one. I like this design so much, I'll probably stitch it again!

Thank you all for the sweet comments on my stashy post. I'm still giddy over all that floss! Yes, my friends, feel free to steal that picture for your desktop background, I'm happy to share. For those of you asking about how I store my floss click here to see my previous posts on that subject. You will need to scroll down a bit on that page. I seem to talk about stash a lot!

Yesterday (the last day of Winter) the weather was 70 degrees and gorgeous. Today (the first day of Spring) it is 30 with blizzard snow. UGH! I am SO SICK of snow.

Stash!!!

I forgot to mention before now, I could not resist buying fabric last weekend. Aren't these fun?

This one you must click to embiggen. Is that not the most beautiful stuff in the world?

Today, I had a rare week day off work so Jessie & I went stash shopping! I had a 25% off total purchase coupon and went a little crazy. I bought floss. Loads of floss. Scads of floss. Heaps of floss. I am in stash heaven. I could wallow in this much floss.

And more fat quarters. The checkout lady was so patient as she scanned in each floss. Then her computer refused to scan any more. I had reached the limit of items you could purchase on one receipt! I suppose the computer has only so much memory. She had to ring up the rest of the floss on another ticket. This purchase gave me one 7-foot-long receipt and a shorter one as well.

What a fun day! Now I shall go wallow in floss until I am batty with stash overload!

Another late TU SAL (edited)

I was just too busy and tired after work yesterday to post for the TU SAL. Only a day late! As you can see I have changed ORT jars! I decided to use this small square jar and empty it every new moon. I'll try to post an update on the big jar every now and again. Figured I'd take two birds with one stone and show you my March Snapper progress as well.

Kinda left this WIP in a weird spot. Ma blows? Rather rude! An R and a C H to follow quickly...

Jessie, my daughter, gifted me with a fabulously incredible bendy straw shrimp she created. She knew I'd love him! How cool is that? Yes, I am easily amused.
.
Since everyone likes the shrimp so much I'll give you a link so you can make your own...click here!

A picture of Sheba and a welcome

Sheba complains I only ever show photos of Taco on my blog. This is not true. I often show pictures of people's pets I don't even know, right? Oh, well. This will make the Border Collie happy, right? See those little smiley teeth?

I'm still exchange stitching so no stitchy photos to share :o( and I'm dying to share the pretty ornaments I'm stitching...

We have yet another new blogger on the block! Everyone go meet Nick and tell him I sent you his way. Welcome to blogland Nick! I'm afraid you are outnumbered by all "us" girls. We promise to play nice though!

Fabric Sorting

It has been too long since I have posted! Sorry about that, I'm still learning the new job and trying to become adjusted to working an extra ten hours a week. Plus, I've been exchange stitching so I can't share what I'm working on and I'm fresh out of ideas for stitchy blog posts!

Today was my day off work. I decided I had better finish the ornament for my exchange so it can be mailed off to Lisa V this week. I had a little panic attack, thinking I might not have "that perfect fabric" for finishing the ornament. Where would I buy Christmas fabric in March? Every store I've been to lately has it all put away until the season gets closer. Trembling, I pulled out my fabrics and to my relief I had "that perfect fabric" ~ whew! Lisa, dear, your ornament is finished and will be mailed soon...maybe even tomorrow!

When I got out my finishing fabrics I was slightly frustrated. Too much fabric ~ not enough box! Rick was headed to Wal Mart so I asked him to pick me up another box.

Then I sorted out the different fabrics. I have lots of "everyday" fabrics (right) and quite a bit of Christmas and Halloween (left). You can tell what my favorite holidays to stitch & finish for, right?

Oh my, now I have loads of room! I might have to go fabric shopping just to fill up the empty spaces in the boxes! It is comforting to know I have some choices in Christmas fabrics. After all, I have four more Christmas ornaments to stitch & finish before the end of the year.
.
I'm interested to see how you store your finishing/quilting fabrics. I am always looking for better ways to do stuff!
