Some Like It Hot

I have no stitching to share. It's all been exchange stitching or very long-over-due blogoversary giveaway stitching. It drives me crazy not to be able to share stitching photos. It also makes me crazy to be behind on my blog reading...and I'm waaaay behind! I do believe the Crazy 15 Day Challenge posts are going to be the end of me. I'm getting caught up ~ I think!

Since I can't show stitching pictures I thought you might like a recipe instead. I like it hot, do you? I love foods with some bite. Mexican food is my favorite ~ bring on the jalapenos! My favorite place to eat serves fried jalapenos that are out. Of. This. World. Granted, my rosacea does NOT like spicy foods but I am unable to resist. My sister brought these treats to our holiday dinners last year and I was hooked...

Take saltine crackers. Yes, plain ol' everyday saltines...the kind you crumble in your chili or nibble when your tummy is urky...

Introduce those boring crackers to this small cast of characters...

And you come up with the most decadent, sinful, just call-me-a-glutton snack ever...

Now, my idea of "food with a bite" might be ~ to me, "Oh wow, that's really hot! Gimme another!" While yours might be ~ running in circles, head shooting flames, shrieking, "Put me out! Put me out!" I'd advise you to consider your spice tolerance and adjust the red pepper accordingly.
.
I will not be held responsible for any weight gained as a result of reading this post. If you make these...please, do let me know ~ I'll be over in ten minutes.
.
3 sleeves Whole Wheat Saltine Crackers
1 cup Smart Balance Oil
1 envelope Ranch Dressing mix (not the dip mix)
3 tablespoons Crushed Red Chili Peppers
.
Mix oil, dressing mix and peppers in a large 2-gallon zipper bag.
Add 3 sleeves of crackers and mix around until coated.
Remove crackers to a cookie sheet and put in warm oven until set.
.
Enjoy!
.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!

That is some snack! I'll have to stay away from that. My stomach is cramping at the thought! But never fear.. I'm have plenty of my own food temptations awaiting my gluttony!

Oh I bet they are tasty! I won't be making them as they would be far too tempting.

But....I'll live vicariously through you. LOL

Woo Hoo those tame, plain crackers have come alive. Enjoy and drink a cold glass of milk to cool the fire.

Aha! I knew urky was a word! :o) Unfortunately that is how my stomach would feel if I had partaken of this snack - I don't do HOT. I am sure my husband would love it.

Oh, yum. It's not fair you doing this to me when I don't know what I'm having for dinner.

Oh yes, a yummy recipe on a day when I tried on a new outfit and it didn't fit. Oh course, I could live on spicy crackers!

These sound soooooooo yummy. So yummy I will not be making them because I would surely work my way through all 3 sleeves of crackers within a couple days. I'm not even going to pretend I have any self-control when it comes to the salty, spicy carby goodness. :(

(My favorite way to eat these crackers is with a little slice of super sharp cheddar and a couple hot pickled peppers on top of that. YUM.)

I am not into spicy hot hot stuff!Although I may look into that google page on Rosacea as I have it and didn't realise it may have a trigger, although I can no longer wear foundation as it irritates it!

ONE CUP OF OIL???? Yikes!!!

I think my stomach is cramping like Annie's. OK...so it does sound yummy but I just don't think my tummy could tolerate it.

Darn, those look so good, Sharon, but my "old-age" has rewarded me with heartburn after eating spicy foods so I'll have to stay away. Still, I can make them for the guys for the next football watching event--thanks for sharing :)

Mmmmmmmm! What a great sounding snack. I'm growing jalapenos, paprika and small hot chillis this summer...I reckon I may use some of those in this recipe. YUM!!!

Ooooh, I love Mexican food although my stomach doesn't agree with me. I have to eat it in moderation. I'm filing this one away to try at a later date when I have the time. It looks like a keeper!

I love these things, great with chili or soups. I use the new mini saltines, add a little garlic powder, easy on the peppers, maybe even a little cayene. very additive

Ah, a girl after my own heart!! I LOVE spicy foods. You can't make it spicy enough for me--my family teases me that they know I'm enjoying my meal if my nose is running and my eyes are watering. LOL I make sure to keep tissues nearby!
