It's that time, Stitchers! Today kicks off the Totally Useless Stitch A Long! January 4th is the first New Moon of 2011 so it's time for everyone to start making those Totally Useless Posts!
Here is mine, pictured on the kitchen counter because the sunlight is so pretty today.
The jar to the right is my regular ORT jar. The left-hand frog jar is what I put all those curly bits that get frogged. Thankfully, that one doesn't get used often! After my Totally Useless photo has been taken my ORT jar gets dumped into the big jar on the left. The right-hand jar is just for DMC bands...I keep the numbered bands to make shopping lists with, then...those just get thrown out.
Some might wonder if they can keep the same jar and just keep adding to it or do they have to do it my way and dump it? You do it however you want to...as long as there is a photo near the New Moon, it's all good!
Do you have to comment on my blog when you have made your TUSAL post? No...but if you do comment on any TU updates you see ~saying you have posted yours, you will get more visitors! Believe me, comments = visitors!
I am keeping the SAL open to new stitchers for a couple of days. When I do decide to close it I will edit that post to say so. If you would like to join the stitch-a-long you must make a comment on the TUSAL post! There is also a link in my side bar.
A reminder to label your TUSAL posts! I must be able to easily find your 13 posts if you get drawn in the giveaway! What if I miss seeing one and someone else gets drawn instead?
A link to my blog when you update would be very nice!
Thank you for visiting my blog today!
xox
I'm doing a happy dance because you said if I leave a comment I'll get visitors. So...this means it's not a totally useless SAL!
ReplyDeleteI posted today. I had threads from holiday break stitching. This is FUN!
Hello dear, I have posted a pic, and so you are welcome to visit me. Have a nice time. Loredana.
ReplyDeleteMy Picture is up

ReplyDeletePosted mine earlier! I noticed the date for this first one was also my mom's bday so that made it easy to remember. :)

Just posted a pic of my TUSAL on my blog. I welcome all comments and any new friends.
ReplyDeleteI posted my TUSAL on Monday. And yes, I labeled it too. :D I didn't show my ort jar from 2010 -- I should have. I always collect my orts for each year. It's fun!
ReplyDeleteI lost a day somewhere being sick but remembered this evening that today was the start of TUSAL! My photos are up, not much to show as I empty and start again each New Year. Here is where I was at the end of the year last year... http://rebelinontario.blogspot.com/2010/12/i-almost-forgot.html

M-ort-icia has joined the fray! (My posts are labeled, I just used the label from last year. Would it be easier if I made a new one - like TUSAL 2011 - so you don't get the older posts?)
ReplyDeleteThis is by far hands down the most fun SAL I have joined!!
ReplyDeleteHugs to you Sharon!!
-missy-
Hey Daffycat! The TUSAL seems to be gaining ground and so far so good. My blog is updated with the TUSAL and also some stitching and knitting. Happy Stitching and hope you don't have many additions to that frog jar!
ReplyDeleteMy TUSAL post is up! (dated 1/4/11), with a link back to your blog, Daffycat.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to peering at other member blogs. :)
I have just posted my update and for the first time learnt how to label my post :)

Your jar is is pretty full... great work and all those DMC bands...wow...
ReplyDeleteI love how all the colors look in that big jar!!
I have posted mine and linked back to your blog.
ReplyDeleteI also have baby parakeet update picture in there too. Hope it's ok to have more than TUSAL jar pictures in the post.
It's still Jan 4 here in Calif so I just posted a picture of my empty lonely little jar.
ReplyDeleteGot mine up!!! Had it all set to go, but never got on until AFTER midnite! I have to say, your ort jar is pretty full!!!! Impressive!
ReplyDeletelol Mines up too!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your jar of frogged bits! I might have to start a separate jar for mine, painful as they are.
ReplyDeleteHave you considered setting up a link party on New Moons? Makes it really easy to visit all the blogs and see who's kept up. http://www.mcklinky.com/ is very simple to use. People can even leave a little picture. See examples on my Friday posts.
I posted a picture of my empty ort jar today! Thanks for hosting this TUSAL!
ReplyDeleteI have posted my ORT jar yesterday, and didn't forget tu use the label :) I always use labels for everything :)) LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy stitching!
Must label posts... must label posts... good thing I dropped by :o)
ReplyDeleteYou're so organised! Even in the orts department. I'm impressed!
Mine was up and running - surrounded by sheep. A recurring theme this year.
ReplyDeleteI linked to your page through my blog and an explanation of TUSAL on the 123 stitch message board.
Hugs!!
bronny
I had visited Bec's blog last night and her post reminded me to post my piccie! All done :)
ReplyDeleteI have posted my first TUSAL pic. What a hoot this is going to be! At least this is one SAL that I can actually do - all the dates are in the diary so fingers crossed I will remember to upload each month! I do like the idea of a separate TUSAL page....
ReplyDeleteCome on over for a visit - would love to see you all.
http://firefliescatsinthegarden.blogspot.com/
PS: my hubby has also joined the TUSAL as he is a quilter. So why not pop on over and visit his quilting blog and say hi as well :-) http://gardeningquiltsandtheuniverse.blogspot.com/
I like the froggin jar, very pretty
ReplyDeleteHi, Sharon! :) Thank you for hosting the TUSAL!! My pic is up! Have a good day!!! :D
ReplyDeleteWhoah, that is one big ort jar! What happens when THAT one gets full?? I can hear the beeping truck backing up to dump it, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI went ahead and scheduled posts for the whole year on each new moon (thanks to your helpfully posting the dates). Now I have pressure to update them, since I don't want the embarrassment of a blank post!
I posted today my jar. This will be my stress-free SAL of the year!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting it!
Aury
My pic is also up :)
ReplyDeleteChriz’ stitchy spot
I have done my TUSAL post, I hope I remember each time,
ReplyDeleteIt always makes me smile to check out the different jars used for the TUSAL... and some of them are soooo glamorous and pretty. Mine is a sauce jar that my mom brought the last time she visited. It's just something really ordinary but I think of her every time I toss a length of floss in there.
ReplyDeleteI posted mine! http://zoomcity.wordpress.com/2011/01/05/tusal/
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking this on Sharon I look forward to posting each new moon and got my post in yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI remembered to post my pic yesterday, not much to show yet but that will definitely change!
ReplyDeleteOff to post my blog update. Not too much to show with only 4 days of the new year to stitch in. LOL
ReplyDeleteH x
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI'v posted my jar yesterday.
I updated my first post!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it falls into the 'reasonably late" category still?
:)
Hi! I have posted my jar (wineglass) today! I promise to empty the wineglass when I find a suitable jar and will then fill with wine and drink!! Thanks for having this fun TUSAL!! Fiona xx
ReplyDeleteI'm joining y'all this year, although I'm still working on getting a blog started. I took the picture on the fourth and will post it to my blog as soon as I figure it out.
ReplyDeleteGot mine posted yesterday (1-4).
ReplyDeleteLOVE the idea of the wrapper jar so you know what you need to refill. That probably saves all that last minute angst when you're missing that key color!
I posted my photo, on the 4th in this neck of the woods, a tad earlier than other parts.
ReplyDeleteI've posted mine as well :O)
ReplyDeleteI posted mine. I'm using a vase and it's harder to see in the photos then in person. I may have to change it.

ReplyDeleteThe start of my TUSAL it's kind of bare right now :p But I have a new 'friend'!
I love your idea of keeping the old bands and using them to shop from. I'm stealing it!
Hey Girl -
ReplyDeleteI am a little late--read my blog you will understand. Anyway, it is there and I am so happy to do this with you. Thanks for the opportunity--this is crazy fun.
CJ
I'm definitely digging out my smaller ort bottle and then dumping when it's full. Lugging that bigger container around is just a PITA!
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to get the adorable pattern of the pussycat with the cross stitch-my friend-who cross stitches FOR everyone else would love it-and so I would so love to make it for her. Peace, Rain

ReplyDeleteI've just posted mine... better late than never :-)
ReplyDeleteHi I posted my TUSAL on my blog last weekend. Have had to work college registration this past week - 12 hour days!!! Way behind in blogging and messages.
ReplyDeleteI posted my TUSAL, and put a link on my post. At least, you can hit it and it gets here. I don't know how to do it that you just have your name and it goes here yet, but I will learn that sometime!
ReplyDeleteGot mine posted last night, better late than never. I will do better next month so the TUSAL police don't come get me.
ReplyDeleteHappy stitching everyone.
