A Weekend to Hermit

Ah, the one weekend each month to do nothing but stitch! It was International Hermit and Stitch Weekend and I made use of every second I could spare. Of course, one must do the laundry, dishes and take care of the gardens but for the most part, I stitched and stitched some more ~ Dash even cooked for me every meal! Yes, I know how lucky I am, girls...believe me.

So first up, I started my next Prairie Schooler "12 Days of Christmas" ornament 10 Lords a-Leaping and I made excellent progress:

Lynn, you aren't the only one with Zombie people!

It was so hard to put this one down but I knew I had to start the next Traveling Pattern or I'd get behind. Wouldn't want anyone to think I was a flaker! Here is where I got to on that:

This is Tending the Blooms by Shepherd's Bush. I chose a very bright spring green linen I dyed a long time back. Wish you could see how pretty it is in person! However, since this is linen, it is terribly wrinkled and you can't see it in the picture but I'm weighting the edges down with my scissors and needle minder ~ lol!

I am so impressed with how much stitching I was able to do! There were some comments on my TUSAL post about how people wished they had as much time to stitch as I do. Really? Me? No way ~ I am still The Queen of Slow Stitching and don't anybody forget that! I work full time (and when I am not AT work I'm worrying about work) and I am the worlds worst about managing my time when I am home. I spend way too much time ogling blogs instead of stitching or even crashed in front of the TV because, poor me "I had a hard day." If we all actually put ourselves to it we could accomplish so much more than we do!

If you would like to join us for the next International Hermit and Stitch Weekend visit Joyce's blog for details. IHSW is the third full weekend of every month so the next one starts May 18th. Joyce usually has a sign up in advance so you can let everyone know you are "coming" that weekend.

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  6. Loads of great stitching Sharon!! I love the colour of green linen you chose for the SB pattern! I'm like you with the lack of managing time and tend to not get a lot of stitching done!!! Work gets in our way...but it does pay the bills :D

  10. The blogging does eat into the stitching time doesn't it?
Those PS ornaments are going to be wonderful and the SB looks gorgeous on the green fabric

    Enjoy stitching them!!

  13. Love the colour of your fabric. I think we all think others stitch faster than we do. I don't think it matters as long as you enjoy what stitching you do do. I too spend far too much time on the computer instead of stitching lol.

  14. These are both charming WIPs - well done!

  19. Two great starts on fun projects...nice going.

I, too, am a very slow stitcher, not helped by the amount of time I spend eye-balling stitching blogs. Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do!

    Have fun.

  20. Fab stitching!!! I think you made great progress this IHSW!!! Stitching is not a race it is something we all love, its about the process, not the finish line!!!

  23. Those are two great starts and I think you got a lot done. The whole business of living gets in the way of stitching!

  24. So glad that you had some totally 'indulgent' stitching time, and that you even had meals prepared for you:) How nice!

Have a lovely and wonderful week!

  26. Well, weren't you the good little hermitter and with such pretty stuff to show for it!!! I love that green linen. The pinks and reds pop like crazy on it. :D

ROFL.... poor little lord trying to chase away the zombies with a sprig. Ah well... they'll enjoy his brain.

  27. Hey...hey...stop writing about my life. Except for the part where you actually DID get stitching done. That's clearly YOUR life and not MINE. =)

LOVE the Spring green...I can kind of imagine how pretty it is in person, since I have been the lucky recipient of some Daffy-dyed linen. =)

  28. Your stitching is always inspiring. I hermited without meaning to this weekend at an Oklahoma campground. SO relaxing to leave all the 'stuff' behind and STITCH until my buns were numb.

  29. Great progress on both of your projects! I think we need to have a contest between us to see whom is the slowest stitcher. LOL. I could seriously give you a run for it ;0)

I should have hermitted this weekend because I unofficially spent all day Saturday stitching. It's nice when our hubbies understand us, isn't it?

  30. great stitching. I did go out to stitch on Saturday but I put a few stitches here and there of green on my big dragon and it wouldn't look like anything had been done if I took a pic of it.

I think I'm finally out of slow queue at work so no more stitching book marks for me. I did get three done and I just have to finish the edging or put the Book, book, book pattern together.

  31. Great progress on both pieces. I'm still lovin the PS one.

  32. You did get a lot done! Beautiful work! Lucky you to have a husband that will cook. :)

  33. Lovely stitching!! You certainly managed more than I did :P

  34. Looks good! And yes, you are a lucky girl :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Aww... how sweet is that that your husband did the cooking for you so you could stitch! Only in my dreams would that happen around here...

I love the spring green color, Sharon--really perfect for that piece and, of course, I'm loving seeing your progress on 12 Days. I never, ever get tired of seeing PS WIPs or finishes :)

  36. You sound just like me! I'm a slow stitcher, and the very worst at managing my time... it's a wonder I ever get any stitching done!

  38. I stitched something Halloween on a similar shade of green, and loved it too. Great for spring! I have "hard days" too, so I'm in front of the TV as soon as the eating is done and the dog is fed. I usually stitch there - unless I need to watch Dancing... pause for Idol singing... or watch the face from a Voice... You get my drift.

  39. Great progress. I really like the SB on that fabric - usually they sort of fade into the background. I do so hear you on the time management issue - I have been on the 'puter instead of stitching for the last couple of hours.

  40. Woot - you go girl! The pieces are just adorable and you make GREAT progress. How wonderful you have such great meal support! :)

  41. Greate stitches! My boy's schedules have been keeping me from my stitching and I am missing it!

  42. Ok, I'm with you on this one. He does look somewhat zombie-like! Glad to see I'm in good company! The SB design is really cute. This is going to look so sweet when it's finished.

I don't work anymore and I'm still really bad with time management. I spend way too much time blogging and on facebook.

  43. You've made a brilliant start on Tending the Blooms Sharon, it looks gorgeous!
    Best wishes.

  44. Ah, you made lovely progress. I have to do that Prairie Schooler 12 days of Christmas, it looks marvelous. Also, the green of the linen is so pretty - fresh looking and soothing at the same time.

I finally participated in IHSW and it felt nice to sit and take some time to stitch. I fall into the same thing of being tired after work and not making an effort.
