A Valentine

Here is the sweetest Valentine from Becky! It arrived in my mailbox today. Isn't that little frog absolutely adorable? And one can always use DMC 321!
Thank you, Becky!

I haven't been able to read my (your) blogs for two days. On Monday, I was helping Jessie with theatre homework...Hamlet. We spent about four hours studying the Bard's famous play. It helps immensely that Jess has seen the movies and watched a few live performances of Hamlet. I trust she will receive a good grade on this section!

Yesterday, I'd planned on spending the evening catching up on blogs; instead we hid in the basement when the tornado sirens blew. You should have seen me, I carried a sixty pound frightened Border Collie down the steep basement stairs! In fact, I bet I went up & down those damn stairs 40 times last night! Then, the electric went out. With no TV, we had no idea if it was finished or if more storms were coming. (I'm getting a battery radio this weekend.) I finally went out to the truck and listened to the radio...while I was in the truck, it began hailing ~ I was stuck! There came a brief let-up and I dashed back into the house! Fun night, not. Our electric was out for only a couple of hours at most. I know many must still be without power because I had lots of phone calls at work today, asking if we had dry ice. There were five (?) tornadoes in Oklahoma last night. Last I heard, eight people had died. One tornado went very near my parent's house. Dad says the houses in the street behind his are missing their roofs! No damage at his house, thank God. Welcome to spring in Oklahoma; only a bit early.

Today is my beloved niece's birthday. Happy birthday, Danelle!

I'm coming along with Crabby but no picture today. I really need to catch up on blogs!

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  3. I'm glad you are all alright. I live in Tennessee and our severe weather came today. The winds were more of a concern than anything else. But like you, I hate our spring bc of the tornados we get.

Anyhoo, I'm so glad you and your parents are safe and sound. Good luck with Crabby! ;D

  9. I wondered if you were getting any of the weather when I heard the weather forcast.

We just got alot of rain and hard winds.

I suggest one of the crank up radios. That way you don't have to remember batteries.

  11. Oh My, such a eventful evening you had! Those tornado warnings will scare the heebie-jeebies out of me too-just the not knowing WHERE they will hit next is scary enough. Sorry to hear you'd lost power but also glad to hear it wasn't out too terribly long. My heart goes out to everyone there, especially to those who lost loved one's...very sad indeed! Now for everyone to recoop from the devastation...it's going to take time.

Glad that you and your's are safe and sound!!!

  13. I'm so glad the storm skipped you and your dad. That must be scary even if it happens often.

Hope your legs aren't too sore from your "stair master" workout, LOL.

  18. I am glad you are ok and especially that your dad's house is ok. I can't imagine having the roof torn off a house- all the damage, all the hassle, all the trauma. I remember being alone in Wisconsin during my first tornado and it was awful - I didn't even know at first that this is what was happening. I can relate to what you go through. Your poor doggie! (Poor YOU carrying him!!)

    Enjoy today. You are blessed.

  19. I understand all about the tornado stuff...I'm next door to you in Arkansas. We didn't get any bad weather in the Little Rock area, but spring is on the way!

I have one of those NOAA weather radios. It can be very annoying b/c it keeps going off whenever there is a new alert, but it is wonderful during a bad storm. I can't remember if mine is battery operated or not. Surely it is, given that in a storm the power is likely to go.

  25. I am so relieved that you and yours made it through the storms with no injuries. Whew!

I'll be looking forward to more pictures of your Crabby piece. I love that and am living vicariously through you since I haven't started it yet myself. LOL!

Take care and bye for now! :)

  26. Happy to hear you are okay and didn't suffer any damage from the storms.

I am so behind on reading blogs, so I'll just comment here for all your posts.

Love your Crabby project (I want to do that one too), & Margaret Sherry cats (my favorites). Your peacock cypher is really coming along nicely. The peace angel you received from Sandra is so adorable.

    Have a great weekend,

  30. Nice card for your excange :)

We are in Australia and although we do get tornadoes they are not as common as in the states...

My husband has ambitions to travel to the states to go tornado chasing... as they fascinate him.

If we do go I hope to be hiding out with all my friends from blogging/yahoogroups stitching in their storm cellars!!

    Hugs c x

  31. Tornadoes already??? Yikes! Glad you are safe. I don't know how you keep up with that many blogs and also get so much time to make all these great finishes. I love the kitty designs! But then I am a cat lover. :)

  32. You oughtta see me when our siren goes off. Seriously. I think my nuts just automatically go loose and fly off and I'm almost always close to peeing my pants in panic!

I grew up in a tropical country in South East Asia where there's everything but tornadoes.

I am glad you are safe.
