Success!

I'm quite pleased with myself! My Lizzie Kate exchange is stitched, finished and ready to be mailed. I worked hard this week, let me tell you! This exchange was such a joy to stitch. The finishing turned out perfectly ~ easing my tender feelings about the epic disaster of my last one on the gingham fabric. Now, I can start on Crabby July and the Traveling pattern. Hopefully, I'll be back soon with those updates!

ORTs
I haven't shown my ORT jar since Christmas. Everybody has been joining the Totally Useless SAL at Dragon My Needle and showing off their ORTs. I haven't joined the 'SAL' because I already save ORTs and one of the conditions for membership is that it's a new collection. Poo. For some weird reason, I really like ORTs...I think they are beautiful. I really, really enjoy seeing everyone's updates, even if I am not participating.

Pretty! Are you a skimpy stitcher, using every scrap and bit. Or are you a floozy and spread wasted inches far and wide? I'm a floozy. I hate fuzzy threads. As soon at a thread starts to wear and get ragged, it gets tossed into the jar.

Hot, hot, hot
Our hot weather continues. It was 109 here yesterday. Already, it is 103 at 2 in the afternoon. Miserably hot. I am tired of summer. I am sorry I ever complained about the cold last winter. I can't wait for autumn. I can complain about the wind then, wait and see!

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  1. You're a little ahead of me on the LK exchange. I just finished stitching mine today, then I have to finish it. Hopefully I can get it mailed by the end of the week.
I'm a long time orts saver also, so I didn't join either.
109! Man, I feel bad for you. We have had unusually cooler weather this summer, only in the 80s. Stay in the AC!

  2. I'm a "skimpy stitcher". I work every last centimeter out of my floss.

I LOVE your ort jar. Very, very cute.

You could still join the SAL and not throw out your orts. Fill another jar --- when it's full empty it into this bigger one --- over and over and over ---

See --- you CAN join and still keep your orts.

  3. I think I'm somewhere between skimpy and floozy. But I don't particularly like viewing my orts. I use them as stuffing for little projects, mostly pin cushions. Waste not, want not you know. ;-)

Your hot weather complaints fit right in to the Crabby All Year piece. Go have some lemonade.

  5. 109?! OMG...I'd pass out and die. That's super hot!

I'm a skimpy stitcher...love your ort jar and the colors in it are great. Mine is looking rather dull. Need to find some bright projects to change up the color scheme in it!

    Stay cool!

  6. I agree I think orts are pretty too. I save mine till I can fill up a stitched piece with them. It takes a long while sometimes to get enough.
I admit I am mostly a floss floozy
    Stay cool

  9. I guess you might call me a floozy too... Hubby says I show him I love him by him occasionally finding my threads attached to his clothes.... It is not all my fault... after all I have kids and a cat.... they like tracking the threads around too. LOL

I know what you mean about the heat... we are dealing with 115 here in AZ. They were talking on and off this past month about the monsoon rain.... wahhhhh in Phoenix it just went around us.... where is my rain??

  10. I have to say I'm a skimpy stitcher.... I would use up as much of the thread as I can!!! That's why I don't really collect orts cause there's not much to collect to begin with!!! I do love all the colors in your ort jar, it's so pretty~~~~

We went to Palms Springs on the July 4th weekend and it was 109 degrees there that day!!! I almost felt like I was wilting.... That is way to hot!!!!

  11. I'm the original thread miser, I can't bear to waste a single centimetre

  12. I am a skimpy stitcher. But if the thread gets too ragged I toss it away. When stitching HAEDs even a short thread goes a long way on 28ct fabric one over one.

Hey, I saw your post about not being able to get into blogs on someone elses blog. I have been having the same issues with IE doing that. We switched to firefox & the problem is solved, as are so many others!

  17. I feel your heat! This OK weather is really hard on me.

Sometimes I'm a floss floozy, other times I'm a skinflint. Depends on the project.

  18. That's great Sharon! Good news on the exchange piece and can't wait to see it :o)

I still don't have a proper Ort jar. I'm a floozy too so I'd have lots of wonderful colors in mine.

It was muggy out today but our temps have been quite nice. No complaining here ;o)

  20. I think i'm a floozy, i have a basket next to my stitching chair that gets emptied at the beginning of each year, then if i need a colour just for one stitch i can dib into it re-use the thread ... does that make me skimpy??? LOL

Way toooooo hot for me, stay cool!

  21. I totally understand that HOT HOT HOT! and I am about tired of it! LOL I have finished stitching my LK exchange but have not finish finished it yet. Your TUSAL looks great!

  23. I've always saved all my ORTS and then they get thrown onthe fire just after midnight on New Years Eve. I just started a new jar off for TUSAL and put the old one to one side

  24. 103??? Holy smokes...no thanks..I'm a whimp when it comes to the hot hot hot. lol. I'm an 'inbetween' floozy and good to the last drop. Depends on if it's an overdyed thread...I used those down to the wire! Ha!
My L*K is ALMOST done..then on to finishing it....you're doing better than me!

  25. Looking forward to seeing the exchange piece pic. Skimpy stitcher - I blame it on my Yorkshire blood making me thrifty. LOL :0)
Waaay too hot - I feel frazzled when it's in the high 80's, would cook at that!

  26. I'm a floozy; however, save all the pieces until the whole project is completed.

Looking forward to some pictures of your projects : )

  27. Love your orts jar, I really must find somewhere to store mine as they look so pretty.

  28. Put me down as a floozy too. I have kept an ort jar for several years. I fill it for the season I am here, then discard and start a new one when I arrive in AZ. I am happy to be in Canada right now though. That is way tooo hot for me! I hope you get some relief soon.

  29. I've kept an ort jar as well but it's not nearly as full. I'm a skimpy stitcher so there are only small ends in it. Wow, you're hot alright! We've had a cooler than normal summer here. Around 74-78F.

  30. I'm definitely a floozy! But the orts are pretty!
