Here an ORT

There an ORT.

Everywhere an ORT ORT.

Here is a little peek at my ORT jars. I collect ratty thread ends and the small DMC bands. I trash fabric threads and the DMC band with the bar code. I don't see the point of keeping broken needles/buttons or chunks of fabric. I go for pretty. I love to peek into my ORT jar and see a bright layer of orange and black from Halloween stitching or a single color pile from a sampler. I think ORTs are beautiful! Let me see your ORTs, please!

It was better at work today, although it has been an altogether crappy week in general. I'll be sooo ready for Friday! Thank you all so much for your advice and good wishes. ***hugs*** I am way behind on my blogs. I haven't felt like reading them the past couple of days. If I'm in a bad mood I don't leave comments as often and that's half the fun of reading your posts. I'll catch up soon, I promise!

I'm terribly excited. I'll have a new freebie to share with you very soon, I hope. It is still being perfected but this gives you something to look forward to.

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  6. I love your ORT vases - so colorful. I put my orts in a Longaberger heart basket, but can't see the pretty colors. I like to collect all my threads through the year and then put them outside in the spring so the birds can use these for their nests (minus any metallics). I love your little sheep needleminder too - very cute.

  7. Sharon, if you like to collect orts already, you should join the TUSAL. Everyone in the group shows their ort jars on the new moon. Yours are so pretty! You're either the fastest stitcher ever or you've been collecting them for a while.

I'm totally looking forward to Friday. Work gives me a case of the blahs!

  8. Your orts are pretty. Mine are just shoved into a jar and I don't keep all my DMC tags. Like you, I like to look at mine and see the different layers of color. You can definitely tell when I stitched Halloween and when I stitched Christmas. LOL

  9. I'll have my new pic up for the TUSAL next week on the new moon. Mine are all collected into a large ornament now. I do have two small ornaments from this year and a large baggie from past years but I've only started keeping them again.

  10. Sorry work is so rough right now. I wish that I had words of wisdom to help you cope with it all, but unfortunately I don't except to say that as with most things in life this will pass. Take care - you will be in my thoughts.

  11. I think my hubby would love me to start an ORT jar as my floss seems to follow everyone, everywhere :) Glad to hear your feeling a bit better, Friday is tomorrow so that's not long to go!

  12. Who hoo Friday is coming! Sounds like it can't come soon enough. Love your ort jars.
I have a crystal candy dish in one house and a crystal oversize martini glass in the other for my orts! They look so much nicer is something delicious.

  15. I had big jar full of orts. And a few weeks ago I was wondering why I was keeping these orts.... I decided it was completely useless (it already was from the start of course) and threw the whole thing away! I don't regret it, but I love to see your orts! Why are we stitchers collecting so much "trash"? :)

  16. LOL, my orts are atractively displayed all over the carpet, the cat, my trousers and anything else that happens to get in the way when I'm stitching. It wouldn't be the first time I've gone to work with a "tail" of floss!
Looking forward to seeing the freebie

  20. So colorful and an easy decorating trick. I use my orts as pin cushion stuffing. The pins penetrate the stuff much better than polyfill.

Hope the weekend lifts your spirits.

  21. Love your ORT. During the stitching i keep the pieces in a little box, and after I trow them in the trash.
I love it what you do, put it in a glass bowl.
But what is the meaning of it, in combination with the full moon????

  22. Pretty, pretty! Mine aren't saved, but the strays that aren't thrown away, tend to cling to my sweaters, bathrobe, etc. People always know what color I've been stitching with, that's for sure :)

  26. Glad you are feeling a bit brighter, nice ort vases. All mine are in a wicker waste paper basket at the side of my chair, its a right mess with all cut-offs from fabric and knitting wool .... whatever gets cut off goes into the basket

  28. My ORTIE is my fabric covered small garbage can. You really do not want to see it and it gets emptied out at least once a month :)
