I might lose my title of The Queen of Slow Stitching if I keep this up. Look at my weekend progress on Count Your Blessings:
This design is such a pleasure to stitch, you wouldn't believe. The colors are fun, the fabric is lovely and the frogs...well, it must be too cold for frogs. I am in need of a bit of advice. The windows are stitched as charted. Do they look odd to you? Kind of blank? Do you think I should fill them in like the door window is filled? Hummm...Here is a little peek at a Totally Useless prize that has come from Loredana in Croatia. Loredana blogs at Villa Loredana.

They are calling it snowmagedden. *blank stare* While I enjoy the excitement of getting a snowfall I can do without snowmagedden. Thankyouverymuch. Actually, Oklahoma has really had it easy this Winter with some very cold weather but only one ice/snow event. So I shouldn't complain. But I am a wimp and I hate driving in snow and ice and I can't miss work. *cries* Pity me, if only a little bit.

Snowmageddon was what they called our monster storms in DC last winter. How many can we have? We need a new name for your storm, but sorry to hear about more gigondo storms in general. What a winter!
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the windows left as is. The lights are out and you are looking inside, but not into total darkness. But you could fill them in if you like that better.
I agree with you on the windows looking a little blank. Why not use the colour you used for the door window! It's coming along beautifully!

ReplyDeleteI am not sure I would fill them in like the door, but maybe you could backstich the inside window frames? Or even well placed / / stitches to indicate reflection off glass. I hope this makes sense!

Hope it doesn't hit you like they are forecasting! I know they are saying 2 inches of ice here before the snow comes, and I so worried about downed power lines!!

Hmmm, the windows do look a little blank. I might backstitch some cross pieces on them (probably with the same gold they are outlined in). I think the dark window like over the door would be too dark.

I tend to agree. I think the windows need something. I would try backstitching them first and if that doesn't do it then try filling them in. I'd go with Patty's suggestion.

I really like the windows as is. I always look at the pictures in a post first and my first thought was "wow!! Those windows actually look 3-d."
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain about the snow and ice. We lived in OKC for about 6 years, and it was no fun having to travel in that winter weather. One time, we hit some black ice on an on-ramp. Wow... that was quite an experience.
They look odd because one can see the fabric? Probably you can cross stitch them in white OR in the colour of the fabric...

If you really want to add something, why not just some back stitch lines to suggest panes?
I would fill the windows they look a little lost to me.

Here in the Northeast (I'm in CT) we've had the snowiest season in history! I teach and this is our 6 snow day with another expected tomorrow....some districts already have 13 or 14 snow days...it's crazy...We've not had a full week of school since mid December!

I like the windows as they are, or maybe I'd fill them in with a lighter color. Dark windows wouldn't be very inviting.

I think I would fill in the windows. I might even do something adventurous and fill some of them in black/dark brown and some of them in light yellow or a creamy yellow.

It's looking lovely, but I think I'd backstitch some window panes in. I think filling it in like the door would be too much, but the panes would be more delicate and so more in keeping with the original design.
