My Title is in Question

I might lose my title of The Queen of Slow Stitching if I keep this up. Look at my weekend progress on Count Your Blessings:

This design is such a pleasure to stitch, you wouldn't believe. The colors are fun, the fabric is lovely and the frogs...well, it must be too cold for frogs. I am in need of a bit of advice. The windows are stitched as charted. Do they look odd to you? Kind of blank? Do you think I should fill them in like the door window is filled? Hummm...

Here is a little peek at a Totally Useless prize that has come from Loredana in Croatia. Loredana blogs at Villa Loredana.

Isn't the mesh bag pretty? It's filled with lovely threads and a sweet sachet kit with Pansies to stitch. Thank you, Loredana!

And there are even more TUSAL giveaway prizes awaiting showing off! I will get to them as soon as I have time.

A major snowstorm is expected overnight. They are calling it snowmagedden. *blank stare* While I enjoy the excitement of getting a snowfall I can do without snowmagedden. Thankyouverymuch. Actually, Oklahoma has really had it easy this Winter with some very cold weather but only one ice/snow event. So I shouldn't complain. But I am a wimp and I hate driving in snow and ice and I can't miss work. *cries* Pity me, if only a little bit.

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  1. Snowmageddon was what they called our monster storms in DC last winter. How many can we have? We need a new name for your storm, but sorry to hear about more gigondo storms in general. What a winter!

I kind of like the windows left as is. The lights are out and you are looking inside, but not into total darkness. But you could fill them in if you like that better.

  2. I agree with you on the windows looking a little blank. Why not use the colour you used for the door window! It's coming along beautifully!

  3. I would fill in the windows and then "define" them with some backstitches. Just MHO.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I am not sure I would fill them in like the door, but maybe you could backstich the inside window frames? Or even well placed / / stitches to indicate reflection off glass. I hope this makes sense!

  5. I think you're right, fill in the windows. They look sort of odd.
I wish we could get snow, we're suppose to get ice tonight. At least snow you can drive on.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I say leave the windows alone. I think they stand out better. That much snow? I am glad I live here in the desert part of California. Stay safe on those roads.

  7. I'd leave the windws as they are, otherwise thy will look like little dorrs. As it is they are frames and glass.
PS - how do I send a prize for the TUSAL?

  8. The windows do look a little blank, I'd be tempted to fill them in. Hope the snow doesn't cause too many problems for you.

  9. The house looks great!

If it were me, I might try to stitch in window panes and see how that looked.

  10. You've had it easy this winter compared to us. And we're getting hit by this one that's coming too. Sigh.

Love your WIP -- looks great and you're working fast! lol! Love the TUSAL prize too. I've already posted my TUSAL for February since I always post on Mondays.

  11. Snowmagedden???!!!??? *blank stare back at ya'* that doesn't sound enjoyable at all! I do pity you. I prefer snow on Fridays, and Saturdays and clearing on Sunday. EEKK!!! Hunker down baby!
Love the project by the way!

  12. I thoroughly enjoyed your reference to snowmagedden :0).
We are hunkered down here also. We've had way too much snow this Winter so I'm not looking forward to it either.
You've received some great gifts for the TUSAL. Stitchers are such generous souls.

  13. I hope you survive Snowmagedden !!!

I think you should fill the windows in with a color just slight darker than the linen -I think that would be beautiful

    Hugs,

  14. Maybe they'll shut work down so you can't get there? Personally, I'd like a little snowmagedden (with electricity though) for a couple of days.

I do think the windows look a little out of place. Sometimes certain projects just flow so well. I had no idea you were the Queen of *Slow* Stitching! How can that be?

  15. Hope it doesn't hit you like they are forecasting! I know they are saying 2 inches of ice here before the snow comes, and I so worried about downed power lines!!

I love that piece, in fact I have it stitched and framed and hanging above my pics of the granddaughters.

And I stitched it as charted...don't even notice those windows now. Think you should do what you think. And BTW, I already have that title tied up! lol

    Stay safe and warm!

  16. For the windows..... I think you should backstitch the window panes.... you know an +.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Mmmm...I might be inclined to fill them or put panes in.

We're supposed to get hit by this storm too. I couldn't believe it when they said it was coming from your way! I guess I should stop bragging how well we have it here ;o)

  18. Great progress!

    Cute prize.

Oh dear I hope you survive snowmagedden!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think that might be a good title to lose???? Looking good... not sure about the windows though.

    happy stitching...and stay warm.

    ReplyDelete
  20. First, I hope you are not buried in this horrendous storm!

Second, yep you should worry about your title - lots of beautiful, fast stitches there!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hmmm, the windows do look a little blank. I might backstitch some cross pieces on them (probably with the same gold they are outlined in). I think the dark window like over the door would be too dark.

I hope it's safe for you to drive!

  22. These TUSAL offerings are getting to be very interesting...you have done a wonderful job with this. I enjoy posting my mason jar of threads...who knew that for all these years, and I do mean all, that I have been doing something that so many others do?
Love you project...I am not sure about the windows.....

    ReplyDelete
  23. Very pretty colors in that prize! Perfect for spring..........whenever spring gets here because OMG THE SNOW!! I can't believe we're getting a ton more this week too. Grrrr. :|

    ReplyDelete
  24. I say fill them in. Not sure about the bright yellow, but definitely fill them it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh, aren't windows impossible??? Something I recently read was to try stitching with one thread instead of two to make an empty window less glaringly empty, but still ... well, see-through. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'd leave the windows alone.

Snowmagedden? Sounds like you need to stay indoors and stitch! BTW, I'd hate driving in snow too if we got any here! I hate driving in really heavy rain, can't imagine driving in slippery, boggy snow.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I tend to agree. I think the windows need something. I would try backstitching them first and if that doesn't do it then try filling them in. I'd go with Patty's suggestion.
As for snowmaggedon, well it's coming here too. Maybe not quite as much but it is expected to start here late tomorrow afternoon and into Wednesday. Not impressed!

  28. I think I'm taking over your title, I've been on the slow side! I like the suggestions of trying the window panes.

Pretty sure we're getting cheated out of snow... yet again. Mainly rain and ice for us. Be careful out there!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I really like the windows as is. I always look at the pictures in a post first and my first thought was "wow!! Those windows actually look 3-d."

I feel your pain about the snow and ice. We lived in OKC for about 6 years, and it was no fun having to travel in that winter weather. One time, we hit some black ice on an on-ramp. Wow... that was quite an experience.

    ReplyDelete
  30. They look odd because one can see the fabric? Probably you can cross stitch them in white OR in the colour of the fabric...

Good luck with your choice. I think we have each given our own views, and you are now more confused than ever... oops

    ReplyDelete
  31. Id fill in those windows. They look out of place blank.
Bundle up and get those needles out. Snowmageddan may well be on it's way.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think you should backstitch some window panes in. But very nice stitching!

    ReplyDelete
  33. The windows don't look odd to me.
I like the piece just as it is.
Lovely design and you are steaming ahead with it. Looks great!

    Margaret

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would try a light blue for those windows!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. It looks great but I think I would fill in the windows they do sort of look blank and I am not keen on blank myself. I hope you don't get too much snow - not keen myself lol.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Seriously, when has anyone EVER been able to accuse you of slow stitching???
Count your blessings looks great, I'd leave the windows alone, it gives it a lovely 3D look like that, if you fill them in it might look a bit flat and cartoony.
If you really want to add something, why not just some back stitch lines to suggest panes?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would fill the windows they look a little lost to me.

Hope that the snowstorm is not to bad.

    Hugs Yvon.

  38. It was on the news today that there is a lot of snow in USA.
    Nice weather to stitch (-:

I hope here spring is coming soon.

    Regards Riet.

  39. *snowmagedden* omg!!! Now THAT'S funny! I can appreicate that word too, being in Michigan and all. Thanks for the giggle!

    ReplyDelete
  40. If you stitch the windows , I'd use a lighter colour than the door window .
Looks great by the way .
Good luck with the storm , take care . ~X

    ReplyDelete
  41. I agree with those who say window panes.

I think this storm is going just to the north of us. We are to get alot of rain out of it. Hope you are able to dig your way out of this one. I am SO READY for Spring!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wow you are stitching fast!!!That will be a soon happy dance!!
    What a great prize!
Good luck with your snowmagedden, send some over here, we have the cold but I miss the snow!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Great progress! It looks wonderful. :)
I like the windows the way they are but a little bit of back stitching around them wouldn't hurt, but I don't think you should fill them in.

Love the threads and kit from Loredana! It is a very pretty bag they came in.

Snowmagedden?? Don't you just love the media. I have seen a few puns that they have been making on the news. Like, 'It's snow joke'
Their attempt at being funny is quite sad, lol.

Stay safe, hopefully 'snowmagedden' will be kind to you.

    Happy stitching.

  44. love your new wip, the colours are great, looks like I'll be adding that to my to do list
I think the windows would look better filled in, I guess that's just what I'm used to doing
    lovely prize you won

    ReplyDelete
  45. Super progress on this one, not sure about the windows, thats a though decision!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I would not only stitch inside the windows, but I would also do some long stitch window panes.

I agree that it does look bare, however, it's really pretty! :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Here in the Northeast (I'm in CT) we've had the snowiest season in history! I teach and this is our 6 snow day with another expected tomorrow....some districts already have 13 or 14 snow days...it's crazy...We've not had a full week of school since mid December!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Lovely stitching!

We are all prepared for the storm here too- weatherman said 12-20 inches by tomorrow! Thankfully tomorrow is everyone's scheduled day off in my house but still not looking forward to the shoveling. Take care and keep warm!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I like the windows as they are, or maybe I'd fill them in with a lighter color. Dark windows wouldn't be very inviting.

Good luck with the storm. I'm in upstate NY and we're supposed to get hit pretty hard tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think I would fill in the windows. I might even do something adventurous and fill some of them in black/dark brown and some of them in light yellow or a creamy yellow.

No snow here just wind and CooOoOoolD!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Great new start!

We got 14" of snow today and broke an all-time record! Stay warm!

    ReplyDelete
  52. It's looking lovely, but I think I'd backstitch some window panes in. I think filling it in like the door would be too much, but the panes would be more delicate and so more in keeping with the original design.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Fantastic progress. I'm not sure about the windows... Would they look like windows still if filled in like the door? Maybe fill then in with an off-white for window glass?? Sorry, that's not very helpful...

    ReplyDelete
  54. I've been thinking about you while watching the news about the storm in OK, Sharon. Hope you're weathering it okay. We were spared yet again--I think it is nature's way of making it up to us after our nightmare winter last year :) Hope you're staying toasty and dry...

Love your little red house and the blackbird. Isn't it nice when a project just flows without problems?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Great job on your WIP!

Hope you don't get too much snow!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I will left the windovs as you have, for me it has some of brightnes, if not, it will be a lot of yellow, and you are not jellous, aren't you, I'm happy thet the parcel arrived and thet its'ok. Huge from Loredana.
