I survived the Snowpocalypse. Stillwater got about 10 inches of snow in blizzard conditions. Rick was a sweetie and took me to work yesterday and today. People were getting stuck in the snow left & right! Jessie & Matt got her car stuck trying to get her to work and she ended up calling in. Today it's just bitter cold and sunny. Tomorrow morning it's supposed to be -5 degrees! I can't remember having temperatures that low before. Just for comparison...last Friday it was nearly 75. It's so not fair. Now, the dratted Groundhog has seen his shadow and that means another six weeks of winter.
I'm glad now I recently stitched a bit of spring! Way back in November, I had a blogoversary giveaway and Ma Teakettle of The Teakettle Corner was one of my winners. I promised a bit of stitching but couldn't promise it would be soon. January came and I finally got all my deadline obligations out of the way so I could concentrate on stitching my prizes. Tired of winter and ready for some spring colors I decided to stitch Karyn a design I'd had in my stash for ages. Once it was finished I sewed it into a pretty pink paisley pillow, suitable to decorate a chair or the guest room bed.

The photo above probably has the most correct colors. I'm really pleased with my sewing here. It's becoming easier every time I do it. Still nerve wracking though...
Yes, I am aware the "W" is missing. It's a French design so there isn't one! I did stitch the "K" and the "S" in a pretty purple, just to make it special. Karyn has let me know how much she likes my little present and I hope she knows how much I enjoyed making it for her!
Thank you for visiting my blog today!

We have the snow too a foot of the stuff. Darn I cant remember the last time it was 75 degrees here. Probably last September. I want spring. Our ground hog didn't see his shadow we are suppose to have an early spring. Yeah Like I believe that. I really hate those ground hogs
ReplyDeleteWhat a frightful storm that swept across the midwest. We were on the very southern end of it and only got a little ice in the northern part of our county. So glad you made it through the storm.
ReplyDeleteYour pillow is lovely. Karyn is a lucky girl.
I feel the same about sewing. I'm definitely not a seamstress so when I do sew it makes me nervous :0)
Beautiful pillow :-))
ReplyDeleteHope it will make you feel better :-)) - 2011 Groundhog's Day Results: "The world’s most famous weather predicting groundhog, Phil, did NOT see his shadow this morning, so according to the folklore, good bye winter, hello early spring!"
Phil DIDN'T see his shadow in Pennsylvania. So Phil says it will be an early spring. Listen to Phil.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what General Beauregard in Atlanta saw. If he was in Orlando, he wouldn't see his shadow.
Which groundhog do you have?
Beautiful stitching! But I think Mr Groundhog did not see his shadow.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.groundhog.org/ ;)
Gosh...I swear the news over here said that there would be an early spring. I must have got it wrong.
ReplyDeleteThe pillow is totally cute! Love it! Great job!
Hmmmm, all our local news was saying he predicted more winter. Maybe they were going by the sunshine we are having today instead of the official groundhog forecast?
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute. Dratted groundhog! Harumph!
ReplyDeleteYukk we had our ration of snow and I hope it doesn't come back any time soon. Love the pillow .It is fab! x
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous finish.
ReplyDeleteROFL!!!! The groundhog in NB wouldn't even come out of his house. Don't blame him ;o)
ReplyDeleteSuperb job on your adorable pillow Sharon!
Your pillow is simply adorable! I just love it and know that Karyn will too!!!

Beautiful pillow! Your choice of the paisley fabric is perfect :)
ReplyDeleteI love the pillow! It's so pretty -- the fabric is perfect with it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pillow! I love the fabric :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you survived the storm.
Adorable finish! Ma is one lucky lady to get this one. I think we all need some spring even if it is only stitching.
ReplyDeleteHear, hear! We have had enough of winter.
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow. It is so darn cold here, good stitching weather. I posted my New Moon TUSAL. Look forward to seeing your post. BTW - Do you know how to fix problems with the Followers on Blogger? My labels is there but the friends do no show up. Tried looking a Blogger for helpo, but I got lost. Boo Hoo. Oh well, time for IDOL!!
ReplyDeleteStay Warm.
CJ
The prise cushion is simply stunning - congratulations :)
ReplyDeleteIf you are sentenced to 6 more weeks of winter does that mean we have 6 more of summer? Ewww!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteThat little pillow came out really pretty!!!! I hope the weather gets better !!!
Im gonna have to stick with Phil - he didnt see his shadow :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish!
This is oh so pretty!! What a lovely stitch and finish! I love your personal touch of stitching her initials in purple - makes it extra-special! :)
ReplyDeleteStay warm!!!!!
Love the pillow, such a cute finish. I might have to consider a pillow for the little thing I'm stitching right now .
ReplyDeleteI'm in TN and the snow hasn't got here yet. I've had enough all ready.
What a gorgeous finish. I am utterly useless with a sewing machine, but am hoping that once I buy one I'll master it (eventually)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute!!! Sorry you aren't enjoying spring like weather at the moment but hopefully it will be warm soon!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on the little pillow...your finising is great!
Hope you are staying warm....
Oh dear. I hope that is the end of the winter for ou! We have not had great weather here but I don't dare complain.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift for Karyn. I love the colors and yes, a touch of spring is important for all of us these days.
Ours says 6 more weeks too... It's been a crazy winter, more snow than I ever remember! And drastic temperature changes, going from -30C to +5C in less than 48 hours!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your blogoversary prize, it's a beautiful pillow :)
Wonderful pillow! The motive remembers us that Spring isn't that far away! :o)
ReplyDeleteCathi
Gorgeous finish! Love the finishing fabric.
ReplyDeleteI also wish the seasons would change - it is scorching in Cape Town and I hate the heat! I would love to exchange some of our heat for your cold :)
Wow how beautifull!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great design, and so beautifull sewed!
She will love it
Gorgeous pillow.. its just lovely!
ReplyDeleteI hope our lovely PA groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, is right and that there will be an early spring. I can't believe all this crazy weather around the country. We've been so, so lucky here in the Pittsburgh region (knock on wood!!)--have escaped all the major storms so far.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pillow for your blogoversary winner, Sharon! Love those little birds :)
What a lovely finish. Unfortunately I'm not brave enough to attempt a pillow although I do seem to be walking past the sewing machines in JoAnn's more often these days! lol
ReplyDeleteI'm so fed up of the snow - we got about twelve inches yesterday. Roll on spring!
You did such a great job! I love this pillow!
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like the weather has gotten crazier over the years.
ReplyDeleteI love your pillow. I learned something I didn't know - French alphabets don't have a W. Shows I haven't stitched many French samplers - LOL!!
Wiarton Willie here in Canada says it will be an early spring. I'm hoping he's right. Our snow dump amounted to around 10 inches as well.
ReplyDeleteI just spotted your pillow on Karyn's blog. It's absolutely gorgeous!! I love the fabric you chose.
I love love love my beautiful pillow ;) and you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Daff :)
XOXOXO
Ma
Your pillow turned out awesome! I love the paisley fabric, she's a lucky person *grin*
ReplyDeletePam
We don't have groundhogs in Britain, spring seems to arrive OK without them :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow you made
Love your pillow and it is wonderful to think of spring. I live in the south so all we got was rain from this latest storm thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Sandy
That storm just missed us. I hope everything melts really quick for you--we have ice now from all the snowmelt yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYour pillow is so pretty. It is very springy and fresh--love it!
It's darling and very springy. :)
ReplyDeleteHa,ha,ha I had to laugh at the title of your post! Why couldn't someone "put a Bag" over the Groundhogs head, so he couldn't see! LOL
ReplyDeleteDon't shoot him.
Your pillow is lovely!
Hugs
This turned out beautifully - Congrats on a lovely finish !!!
ReplyDeleteKaryn should treasure it always :)

ReplyDeleteOh how pretty! Beautiful stitching and your finishing is so good!
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow!
ReplyDeleteOh I just love your pillow. The design is just too cute. I have never heard of L' R de rien. Is there a good place to look on the web for designs like this one?
ReplyDeleteGlad that you made it through the storm OK. I don't know about you, but I am ready for Spring. Have a good weekend.
Nice pillow. I always thought it was another 6-8 weeks of winter whether he saw his shadow or not.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, stitching spring is the motto now. I have just finsied a little design with at least 5 bunnies in it, lol.
ReplyDeleteLove your little spring pillow!
OK, that is about the cutest darn pillow I've seen!! LOVE IT!! Good job girl!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely little pillow!
ReplyDeleteGreat finishing job - the fabric you chose is just perfect.
Margaret
What a lovely finish, I'm not surprised Karen loves it. I've been doing some spring stitching as well as I'm so sick of winter.
