You need to post to your blog!

That's what I've been saying to myself for many days. I just keep finding better things to do. What could be better than Daffycat blogging? Stitching. Dying fabric. Designing more freebie patterns for you. Reading your blogs. What a boring blogger I've been!

Design ~ Boo Club Brew
Designer ~ Lizzie*Kate
Fabric ~ 28 count Daffycat dyed Jobelan
Fiber ~ DMC

Brew by Lizzie*Kate is proof of stitching. This was a fun stitch! I changed the colors around a bit ~ since I used such bright orange fabric, some of the suggested colors looked a little funny to me. I have no plans for finishing yet. Somehow I am in "stitch only" mode. I also dyed a divine piece of purple Jobelan and have started another Boo Club piece. It's just black checkerboard border right now so no boring photos of it.

You read correctly, I've been designing! I'm currently working on (yes, Barbi) a new reindeer and a little Halloween design. Hopefully, I will feel they are ready for publishing soon.

I have also been pondering the Totally Useless Stitch A Long. (See the new poll in my sidebar.) Do I want to host next year? Do my readers even want me to host next year? What prize or prizes? Or do I or you want a giveaway attached? I'd love to have your thoughts on the matter, comments please!

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  1. Brew is adorable.

As for prize/no prize --- my thoughts run along no prize. I think it makes it more of a competition than just a fun thing to do AND it's probably a lot of work for you.

I think if you put up a post and then we just comment that ours are up too --- that's the fun --- seeing everyone's jars grow in color.

  2. Your finish looks great, wonderful fabric and thread choices. I can't wait to see your designs.
I'm not doing the TUSAL so can't help you there.

  3. You must know it's the time of year...fall...does it every time....interests sway away from the computer and blogging. To me TUSAL isn't about the prizes, it's sharing, knowing that by filling the jar, the result is more stitching done. It's fun to see everyone's jar grow.

I'm interested in the fabric dying that you have been doing. What sort of dyes do you use?

So if not tusal, something new??

  4. I too find myself chanting the pep talk days before I sit down to blog.

You're designing? YAY!! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

  5. Love your halloween stitch and can't wait to see what you have been designing. As for TUSAL I don't take part so I can't really give an opinion. Happy dying, stitching, and designing. That doesn't sound boring to me!!

  6. Oh hon please don't give up the TUSAL - it has been a hoot!! I would miss it. By the number of signups its been a huge hit.
Giveaway - nice but not necessary. But then, who doesn't like a gift lol.
And yes, I see that you do stitch lol!
Look forward to the new designs.

  10. I have to admit I am also a bad blogger.... and I was wickedly punished. My blog got zapped and is no more because of a careless mistake I made. So I setup a new one but I lost all of my links and I have been pouting. Cute finish & I can't wait to see what you have been designing!

  11. Love your finish! And how exciting on the designing! I'm new to the TUSAL so it's hard for me to express an opinion. I do have to say I've been enjoying participating a lot. It's fun to know that a TUSAL post has to be done soon or whatever. I think it's up to you about whether you want to host next year or anything else. The prize thing is a toughie. Personally, I think it's fun to participate whether there are prizes or not. But that's just me. I guess I'm weird? lol!

  12. I hope you do run the TUSAL again, I hope to take part! :-) prizes are nice, but not essential (I never win anything so it's never the motivation for taking part :-) )

  13. I like the little Brew. And, you are not a boring blogger, AND I love that you're designing.

  14. You HAVE to do the TUSAL for at least one more year - it's the only reason I started blogging!!
If you want some help monitoring and tracking the monthly postings I could do that for you.
Looking forward to your Hallowe'en design in particular.

  15. I think the TUSAL is so much fun...it's been great to see how everybody shares their pretty ort jars. The prizes are a fun little extra - but not necessary at all.
BTW, I LOVE your blog - TUSAL or no TUSAL!! Your designs are just the cutest and I always love to peek in and see what you're stitching! :)

  16. Please keep the TUSAL! as for prizes, we don't need them if you don't want to :)

  17. Cute, cute, cute! I have enjoyed participating in the TUSAL this year. Prize? Nice but not necessary.

  18. I love TUSAL! It motivates me to stitch when I see how many or how little orts are in my jar. As for the prizes...prizes, schmizes. Meh...don't need no stinking prizes! Although I am sure the ones for this year are great but its too much work and pressure.

Love your new finish and can't wait to see your new fabby and designs!

  19. I agree with the other ladies; a prize isn't necessary, but the TULSA has sure been fun..I love the "brew", I have this and think I want to stitch it now that I've seen it..lol

  22. Blog when the mood strikes you, don't do it out of obligation and the same for TUSAL. If you enjoy it, do it....If it has become a chore, either let it go or pass the responsibility on to someone else. Put YOURSELF first. Be honest with yourself and decide what is right for YOU. Your friends will still be your friends. That is one of the things I like about internet friendships....we go with the flow. I get where you are coming from with the 'stitch only' mode....I'm in the same place with my stitching. Lots of little (instant gratification) projects are fun....and as for Lizzie Kate designs....they are very moorish and it is hard to stop at one!

  23. I think you inspired an awful lot of people to do the Tusal, and you should(if you are able) carryit on, as for gift the pleasure of taking part should be enough, not everyone is in it for the prize!

Did you ever find out what happen to the creator of the Tusal?

  24. You are never a boring blogger. I don't know what it is but the last month I barely want to post a thing! Is it the weather? idk

Hope your designs work out - can't wait to see what you've been up to!

  25. Oh my, what a cute little finish this is. And there are even more pieces by the Boo Club? Looking forard to seeing them, too.

  26. Have to agree with the comments already posted....the TUSAL is great, so much fun. I can imagine it's lots of work for you having to check who has posted etc. As for prizes, well they are nice but really not necessary. After all there can only be one winner so the chances of winning are pretty slim, so I don't think the prize is the motivation for most people to post pics of their jars. HTH. Would love there to be another TUSAL next year, but would understand if you didn't want to do it.

Love your new stitching. Can't wait to see what you have been designing too!

  27. I'm happy to hear you've been designing! With your talent I know you would do well.

Since this is my first time to join the TUSAL, I can say it's been fun and has connected me with stitchers via blogging. I hope to meet even MORE! So yes...I hope there is at least SOMETHING someone hosts that will connect us.

Speaking of...if you ever wanna meet at Cross Stitch Haven in OKC, let me know! ;-)

  28. You've brewed up a very cute finish, Sharon! Love the colors you used to accent your fabric choice, too...

Looking forward to seeing your newest reindeer design :)

  29. I definitely wouldn't miss the TUSAL next year. I also don't think prizes and giveaways are needed for it. Just blogging and keeping up with everyone is joy enough. :)

I love your L*K!! I am a total Halloween junkie, lol.

  30. I don't follow along in the TUSAL but I do get a kick out of watching everyone's pictures pop up monthly. :)

Lovely finish - what a fun design!

  31. Yea! Another reindeer design! I can't wait to see...love these! I hope you will do TUSAL again next year...it's fun...prizes or not.

  35. Love love love the TUSAL, and I think the prizes add fun..how much peer pressure before you say you'll keep doing it (you know all the cool people TUSAL)?

  36. Good luck with the designing! And I'm with you on the blogging - too blooming busy! But it'll come. :)

  38. Brew is soo cute! I love it and I'm looking forward to seeing the designs you are planning.
As for the TUSAL, I'm enjoying it. I don't think a giveaway is necessary but I must say it sure has been an incentive for me.

Ouuuuuu! I can't wait to see what you've done :o)

  40. What a gorgeous brew!!

TUSAL is great fun - would love to take part again next year. Prizes are definitely not necessary - it is all about having fun! I love seeing all the ORT jars each month.

Maybe we should have a blog just for the TUSAL - ie the blog owner could put up a post each month to remind us about the date and then those taking part could post a comment on that month's post with a link to their TUSAL post. It would mean that you (if you still want to do it that is) could then just monitor that blog rather than try and sort through all of your own posts for relevant comments. Does this make sense what I am trying to say???

Sharon, I would love you to continue to host the TUSAL if you want to as I have enjoyed this year so much. Thank you :O)

  41. Lovely L*K finish. Glad to hear that you have been designing and looking forward to seeing what it brings.
I'm an unofficial TUSALer but I'd love to see it continue. I don't think it needs to be about prizes I just like to see the orts grow and the lovely containers that other people use.

  42. Great LK finish!!! I LOVE IT.

As for blogging, I can totally understand, there's just not enough hours in the day most of the time.

As for TUSAL.... if you're hosting it next year, I'm in. As for prizes.... I'd say no prizes necessary. It's a lot of work for you, and I think most ppl join for the fun of it anyways. :)

  43. I would like to very humbly confess to loathing the TUSAL.

Finally figured out why--As a native Tulsan it is a slight variation on the word "Tulsa" so it totally makes my brain itch! (obsessive, much? lol)

Also, I don't like the way posts for it clutter up my reader every month. I consider a ball of orts to be a ball of trash; and I don't think hoarding it is a good thing to do (How bad it is, however, is debatable).

So, I would be very happy if there were no more TUSAL.

BUT I think a lot of people (esp. after reading the comments) enjoy it for some reason--however unfathomable to me. :D So I really like the idea someone put forward of having a dedicated blog or other meeting area for the project.

I can't comment on the TUSAL as I don't take part in it.
