Guilty Pleasures

I am not a zombie girl. Not much for slasher films either. I've never seen any of the Saw movies but I admit I may have seen Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street in my younger, wilder days. But zombies ~ how hokey is that?

I have become addicted to a zombie show. Hopelessly. Addicted. I am suffering withdrawal since season 2 is on a bit of a break until February 12. Don't call me on the 12th. Don't email. I'll be busy. Until then, I'm re-watching season 1 on Netflix and the first half of season 2 on DVR...for like the millionth time. The Walking Dead is so totally freaking awesome. And I am NOT a zombie girl.

If you haven't watched The Walking Dead on AMC because you aren't a zombie fan, you might be missing out! This show isn't really about the zombies but the zombies are an integral part of the story. This is a story about people. These characters are incredible ~ with all the faults and complexities of real people and the zombie bits (pun intended, sorry!) are done completely realistically, as if this horror really happens. I'm hoping AMC keeps this show in their line-up.

With eye candy like that, why would I watch anything else?

Tell me your guilty pleasure. Even if you are into zombies.

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  3. Hi Sharon, Oh, I love The Walking Dead, too, I cannot wait until Season 2 resumes. I also love The Wire, Treme and Homeland. Have you seen The Misfits? A British series - check it out. I think that you would like it. The premise sounds a bit hokey (like The Walking Dead) but it is oh so clever.

  5. I am not a zombie fan at all but LOVE THIS SHOW!!! I watched the first episode to see what all the hype was about and was instantly hooked. Yes, it is more about the characters then the zombies. Tastefully done. Can't wait for the new ones to come on!

  9. Hubby watches it (and I think the boys do but since they don't live with me I could be wrong) I don't do zombies, but to each his own!

  11. Everyone keeps telling me that I should watch this show. So I may have to look into it.
Mine....When I was sick with the flu last month, I saw Claire Daines on The Talk..talking about "homeland" nothing that I would be interested in on a general basis. But since there was nothing on tv and I had days to kill, I found it on demand, and ended up watching all the episodes up to that weeks airing. On Dec 27th they had a catch up marathon and got him hooked too...now we don't miss it!
(Probably more information than you wanted to know...huh? LOL)

  14. I just received the first season on DVD. We watched a few episodes. I can't believe I haven't watched this from the beginning. I love scary movies though haha. I want to catch up so I can watch the new episodes but I can't find when the old ones I missed are on. Of course they were on during New Years and I missed them until it was almost over...grr.

  15. I missed all of Season 1. Never heard of it until the final Season 2 episode aired before it's holiday break. The one episode I saw I liked. And yes that is wonderful eye candy.

I am massively addicted to horror and sci-fi movies and television.

My guilty pleasure is Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International. I would love to join the team but I am not a great night person with a 7 year old to deal with first thing in the morning, lol!!

  17. I guess I don't watch too much TV either. Right now I'm in to House Hunters on HGTV. Pretty boring, huh?

Now I need to go get me some chocolate covered cranberries after reading that last comment!

  18. My husband has watched it but I have not sat down to watch yet. I'm trying to watch the BBC's Robin Hood.

  19. I have too many guilty pleasures (TV wise) to list, LOL. This is an excellent show though, although it did take awhile to grow on me I am now completely hooked! It's been a loooooong wait for the next half of Season 2 but it's not too much longer. I love anything horror although I do love ghost stories more than zombies. This show is not for everyone, there is a large amount of gore (which is fun really) and quite a bit of swearing too. This is a HUGE hit in AMC's lineup and I really doubt it will be cancelled anytime soon but it is an expensive show and they tend to get cancelled well before there time.

I'll admit my one huge guilty pleasure is Coronation Street!

  20. OMG I soo hope we get this over here in Aus, its sounds fab. I am soo into horror, gore, zombies etc. My fave shows are anything with vampires in them. Currently watching The Vampire Diaries Season 1 and loving it. The only one I cant stand to watch is True Blood.

  21. Prison Break. I.Can.Not.Get.Enough. LOL! We've been watching it on Netflix (didn't watch it until now) and we're at the series finale, we'll watch it tonight. Then I have no clue what I'll do. Maybe I'll check this one out to help me through my withdrawals, thanks! :)

  22. I've heard good things about this series but don't get the channel its on. My guilty pleasure used to be Prison Break. At least I have every season plus the Final Break :o)

  23. Hubby loves this series. He, too, is in mourning till the new season starts. He got the in laws hooked on it too. Lol.

My guilty pleasure.... Hmm... I'm kindaa nerd... I love me my sci fi. Star Trek, TNG and Ds9 and Dr. Who a what I'm all about. :D

  24. Okay, I am a zombie girl, and I looooove this show! And you'll be happy to know that there are already plans for at least one more season.

  27. You sound like me when I talk about Justified on FX.

  28. Funny, I LOVE ZOMBIES LIKE WHOA, but I haven't been watching The Walking Dead. I'm not much for watching tv shows as they happen, I tend to wait til they are on DVD and then buy them that way (Like Game of Thrones.. waiting for that release in March!!). Walking Dead is on my wishlist though!

  29. Walking dead is so good! Those living corpses and walking zombies :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I, too, love this show and was really miserable about the mid-season break :( Still, not long to go until we can resume watching *does happy dance!* Hmm my guilty pleasure would probably be Celebrity Big Brother UK. It's hilarious!

  31. I don't do scarey stuff, much prefer the period dramas, I could watch them all day long.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't think we get that one over here.
I'm more of a vampire girl than a zombie girl (the sort of vampires who DO NOT ruddy well sparkle), but that sounds as if it would be good.
Sci Fi too, but then you knew that...

  33. I guess you like this. I haven't seen it and must admit it's not my thing. I guess at times I just don't get it! Everyone likes their own styles and this is definately your thing. I'm more into the Sopranos and could just watch it over and over. Have a nice weekend and hopefully it won't be long before you can get another fix of this

  35. My guilty pleasure, and this is funny to everyone who knows me, is B grade horror movies. I love slasher films and have a ton of them. I also like the big animal movies, lol. And I totally admit I have terrible taste!! This show sounds like something I would like if I had cable...

  36. Can't wait for the 2nd season! I received the 1st season for Christmas and the gmen and I have been watching it since they haven't seen it yet.

  37. We watch The Walking Dead at our house, but my very favorite "guilty pleasure" is Breaking Bad. Love, love, love that show! The last season starts next summer and I am already having withdrawal knowing that the story is going to end.

  38. I love the Walking Dead too, though I worried after the first episode it would be too scary for me. Definetely a guilty pleasure for after my kids go to bed.

  39. We watched the first few episodes...kinda had to since parts of it are filmed just down the street! It was fun to see how they'd altered the geography of Atlanta. But it was way too horribly, disturbingly gory for me.

  40. I love this show...it's amazing! I'm not much on watching tv, but I NEVER miss this show! My guilty pleasure...chocolate...that I hide from my children and don't share with anyone!

  41. I love, love, love the Walking Dead. DH and I can't wait for it to return, although I think we have to wait slightly longer in the UK.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Also love the Walking Dead - we're also having the mid-season break in the UK. Ooooh, the barn - AMAZING ending...

My other guilty pleasure has to be True Blood. Totally trashy, but completely addictive. You Yanks make amazing TV, but it's rather fun that the leading men in both are Brits!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I just love, love, love this show!!!! I can't wait for Feb. 12th when it starts up again! You have to love the yummy men in it don't you?

    Happy Stitching!
