Another New Moon ~ another ORT report! I had a wide variety of thread colors this time. Dark ones, light ones and in-between ones:
Had the odd idea earlier this year to save each months ORTs in it's own jar. I'm cheap so I recycled pimento cheese jars. They actually look really cool as you can see the different colors being used each month. Not sure how long I can keep up eating a jar of pimento cheese a month. It's a good thing the stuff is fairly low-carb. I guess it's okay as long as the celery holds out =)
Still looking for a nice shelf or somewhat to put 12 pimento cheese jar ORT containers on display. If you would like to join this Totally Useless Stitch A Long, click here. All you do is save your ORTs and snap a photo to post on your blog on the new moon!

Had a bit of a scare today with Sheba. She began groaning yesterday, which I noticed while watching TV. It bugged the crap out of me ~ not that she was making noises but that I worry about her. Then, Dash slept on the couch last night (he has a cold) and said she groaned all night long. A dog who has terminal cancer suddenly doesn't stop groaning? OMG Of course, we are thinking this is THE END. In a panic all morning until I can call the veterinarian who said she needed to come out and see her as soon as possible. The exam revealed no sore spots, no flinching when somewhere is touched, no swollen lymph glands. No signs at all of cancer type pain. Just a typical old dog with aches and pains and who is slowing down. The vet said old dogs sometimes get flaky and moan & groan for no good reason. She is getting some mild pain relief and a round of steroids. This is much better news than I was expecting and I can't express how relieved we are!
A very nice photo of Sheba above.
How pictures of Sheba usually turn out below.
I keep laughing at that one.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!

I 'heart' Sheba. Reminds me of my old feller 'Henry'.
ReplyDeleteOur dog, Rosie, also has cancer and has begun moaning more. She'll be laying there and moan and moan and some days...nothing.
I do hope we'll be able to keep our babies as comfortable as possible. It's so hard to constantly worry. I know. I'm there too.
Hey autumn I too have a Sheba with cancer. Maybe we can email back and forth and support one another
DeleteLove that last photo of Sheba! It reminds me of how Clarisse squints when I get out the water bottle. I would spray her with it when training her.
ReplyDeleteI hope Sheba is a little more comfortable now. It would be so difficult to listen to her in pain like that.

I'm dreadfully late getting my TUSAL posted this month - I was having some technical issues between camera & laptop. I think my card reader may have become a casualty of the war too. I prevailed though and finally got things together today!

I too have a Sheba with terminal cancer. What kind does she have. If you check out my blog you will see her pic and her story. Is yours a border collie. We had one of those who passed last march of liver cancer. My Sheba is my medical dog and is a 14 year old German Shepherd. She has hemangiosarcoma. Her first tumor was on her spleen so we had that taken out. She is doing ok except for nausea problems. She starts chemo tomorrow. Our vet explained that chemo has only mild side effects on dogs. Otherwise we wouldn't dream of putting her through that. She has saved my life a few times. Jim and i don't and can't have any of our own children so she is our baby. My heart is breaking already but I am greatful that through the surgery and chemotherapy we are buying more time. 6-12 months of good comfortable quality of life. Please keep me up to date on how she is doing. I will pray for your fur babies.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Sheba. It's hard watching and worrying about a sick family member :o( ((((HUGS))))
ReplyDeleteLove the idea about your Ort jars.
