I received a text from my daughter, Jessie, yesterday: "Your blog. It needs updates!"
I know, I know! I've been such a boring blogger of late. Just too much going on right now. With one thing or another I haven't found any blogging mojo. Or stitching mojo either! I think there are 8 sad little ORTs in my jar right now!
No blogging. No stitching. BUT I've been keeping busy and that's not boring. For instance, the last weekend in September Dash and I hopped on the motorcycle for a mini-vacation. We went to Fayetteville, Arkansas to attend Bikes, Blues and BBQ which is a big motorcycle rally. This was the first rally I have ever attended and boy ~ it was fun! Dash and I had a great time, spending three entire days on the motorcycle. Wow ~ was my butt ever sore! I never saw so many bikes in my entire life...
Bikes were parked like this up and down both sides of the street for several blocks. Plus, bikes traveling non-stop, both directions. We saw some really awesome motorcycles.
Crowded like you wouldn't believe.
This was about half way, I think, looking up the hill. We had stopped at the food court for turkey legs. Yum! And beer. There were several bars. I think we went into each one. Rick teased me in one of the bars for giving my beer to him and asking for a glass of wine instead. Don't get me wrong ~ I love beer. Just not horrible, disgusting, bitter beer. I don't care how many awards the place got...it still brewed nasty beer!
Here is a little video snippet of the rally taken on my iPhone. You will have to turn the volume all the way up to get the full effect of how LOUD it really was. Just kidding ~ you might want to turn it down!
It was an awesome holiday. The weather was perfect: not too hot, indeed a little too cool at times with lots of clouds. It sprinkled on us a few times but no real rain. We do have rain gear, just in case. I got to wear my biker vest:
I've been collecting patches that express my interests. You will note my road name patch? LOL I haven't found any "cross-stitch" patches...and it's impossible to internet search for them. If anyone knows of any iron-on type patches with a cross-stitching theme be sure to let me know!
The back looks a little lopsided until I get more patches. I was ever-so-pleased to find the "Marine Wife" rocker since Dash's vest has a "Marine" rocker. Isn't this fun? Too bad I actually look like a chubby housewife rather than a sexy-biker-bitch! ROFLOL
Now that summer has passed and autumn is finally here maybe life will slow down for me. Wait...the holidays are coming up, what am I thinking? I will be back soon with a stitching update for you. The traveling pattern I am in possession of needs finishing so I can send it on to the next stitcher. Hopefully by the end of the week! See you soon.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!
xox
Stitching and blogging time.. that will come back.
ReplyDeleteSome times it's also good to have a break.. then when teh time is back.. you will make even more... hi hi lol..
Have fun!!
Looks like you have it busy enough
Like Annette said, sometimes it's good to have a break and do some other things that you enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWe all go through those times when our mojo takes a break!
ReplyDeleteSo now you don't get butt problems from stitching, you get them from biking! You just can't escape 'em I guess. Looks like your having a great time anyway, stitching or not and it's always good to see a post from you.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were able to enjoy the weekend. The rally looks fun! We all have things that take our time and as long as you enjoy them we will all wait patiently for your stitching updates ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh -- I love your biker vest! So cool! I read about the Bikes, Blues and BBQ somewhere -- can't remember where. It's fun to see pics of it! So many motorcycles! Wow! As for the stitching -- yeah my stitching has been suffering of late as well. We will get back to it sometime, right? :D
ReplyDeleteyou made me laugh. :) living life outside - loud and proud - is much better than blogging or even stitching. :)
ReplyDeleteYou rock! You've been livin it up and that's awesome. Stitching will be here for cold winter days in the future.
ReplyDeleteMay not be tough enough for a biker jacket, but I used some of my Girl Scout websites and found this for you:

Sometimes the stitching just has to be put aside for other fun things. It looks like you had loads of fun!!
ReplyDeleteNever feel guilty for not blogging or even stitching if you are living life to the full! Great patches on your jacket.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!! Hubby and I biked for years. I rode with him until one year he bought me my own Harley. (Then he tried to teach me to ride and after 5 minutes, the divorce word came up so I took the motorcycle safety course instead. LOL) I used to collect pins and had them all over my bag on the back of my bike. I loved my pins!! My mom gave me one with scissors one time. My favorite patch on your vest is the 1911. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been blogging much either. When I work I can't stitch and blog. I guess I'm not good at multi-tasking.
ReplyDeleteI want to make it a point to comment on one or two blogs each night.
I miss it!
Cool vest!!!
Bike rallys are fun but as you said LOUD! We used to go to the one in Myrtle Beach. Here's hoping your mojo returns soon - I always enjoy your posts.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you! My friend and her husband went to the Biker Rally in Durango CO over Labor Day. They rode there and back from Phoenix - her behind was sore too! Glad you had such a good time.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteYou are never boring!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Looks like you had a fab time. Your stitching and blogging mojo will be back before you know it.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you logging, like everyone else has said I agree we all need a change now and then. Stitching is a hobby so when it becomes a chore it's time to stop. You'll get going again, in the meatime tell us all about your non-stitching news :)
ReplyDeleteYour stitching will always be there. Opportunities like this, not so much. Looks like you had a wonderful time. Love your patches.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree with you though. Bitter is the best ;D
I think many of us have found less time for blogging this year, Sharon, but I'm so glad to see you're enjoying other parts of life!! I'll bet that bike rally was VERY LOUD!! But, it sounds like you had a blast--love your little biker chick vest :)
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know I am not alone in not having time for stitching or blogging. Those rallies are fun, but they're probably just like car shows we go to; I always come home wanting my own "toy."
ReplyDeleteAh...good to know another biker chick stitcher! Looks like a great time. Bikes, BBQ, and a day spent with your honey! Doesn't get much better than that!
ReplyDeleteWell you might not be stitching but it certainly looks like you are having a good time!
ReplyDeleteNot blogging or stitching? Yeah, done that!!! Hehehe.
ReplyDeleteOooh, that rally sounds like fun. Did you wear ear plugs? The princess that is me would have. ROFL!!!
No luck googling for a cross stitch patch either. :( What about stitching something and making it into a patch?
Lovely photos x
ReplyDeleteHah, I tried googling it as well. It's amazing how many patches there are and how many cross stitched patches there are yet not a single I cross-stitch patch! They must be somewhere. I agree with Joysze, make your own!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back; I'm ready to learn! :)
ReplyDeleteDesi
It sounds like you've been having an amazing time even if you haven't been stitching and blogging. Sometimes it's all about the fun! Love your vest and that you have a "daffycat" patch. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely trip, so many lovely new people for you to meet. Loved reading your news.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great trip. I've never been to a rally where you take over an entire town, here it's usually just a muddy field or two!
ReplyDeleteI love your biker vest but you need a bottom rocker too!
Happy Biking, it's the best way to see the country and meet lovely people too.
Well, it looks like you had fun and have been keeping busy! I know how you feel about blogging and I'm stitching but very slowly.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how you finish the travelling pattern stitch!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI have my brother near that town but we have never been able to watch the motorcycles!!! I bet it was fun and I do miss you posting on your blog!!!!
Some times a break is needed to refuel our creative energy, I know this month I have poured most of my time and energy into my Fall garden, since I lost my spring garden to grasshopper invasion and lost my desire to work the garden all summer.
ReplyDeleteNow as the season changes so does my desire to create with threads and fiber. You spark will ignite once again I'm sure.
Bike Week and Biketoberfest here in Florida is a blast whether you walk ride or crawl to the events. I bet you had a blast.
I've been terrible - haven't updated in almost a year and haven't been visiting blogs too much, either! Hope all is well with you. Love the bike pics. DH and I hope to one day go cross country on ours...if he could quit having surgery and replacing parts one at a time, that is! Ha.JK - he's doing great and he's gotten back on the bike. I'm waiting for his shoulders to be stronger and the weather warmer and I'll be back on with him again. Sounds like you guys had fun! Take care. :)
ReplyDeleteYou had me laughing at the sore butt and the not a sexy biker bitch part. Right there with you. Sounds like a fun weekend. We don't have bike anymore and I sometimes miss it.
ReplyDeleteI never realized our connection - I, too, am the Marine Wife and not the sexy-biker-bitch either. LOL Sadly, my hubby had to give up the bike - great memories though!!
