We just aren't going to mention the fact the New Moon was five days ago and I am late again, okay? My ORTs are still being collected in this huge, ugly Ziploc storage bag. There were lots of new triangles added...I miscounted how many setting blocks I needed, wait, let's not mention that either. The large tangle of thread is the bits from bobbin ends, no mentioning of the two times I sewed with no bobbin thread or the one time with no needle thread!
The bag is sitting inside my pretty wooden leaf bowl, if that makes any difference! The little 2 inch squares are my leader-ender blocks. Those blocks will one day be their own quilt, for now they just start and end my chain-piecing.
Some of you have have asked where my cross stitch has gone. I promise, it's just on hiatus while I get some of this quilting bug cured. I started learning to quilt because I wanted a made-by-me quilt for my own bed.
You wouldn't believe how much fabric and how many rows it takes to cover a king-sized bed!
I have all the rows completed. I think. Unless I have miscounted. I could have miscounted! I'm no great shakes at math and quilting takes so much math!
I've started sewing all the rows together. It won't take long now! This will have to be sent off to be quilted as there is no way I can quilt it myself on my little machine. It's HUGE! I am getting excited about finishing this project.
=^..^=

ReplyDeleteLove the quilt you are getting together.
I'm also unreliable about posting my Ort collection. Think I joined your TUSAL ort a couple of times & failed miserably everytime, to show my collections, If you start in 2016, I'll endeavour to be a good participant if I join.
Kay.
Your quilt is gorgeous Sharon. Here is my link for TUSAL: http://bengalcatlover10.blogspot.com/2015/10/oct-gifted-gorgeousness-and-tusal.html

ReplyDeleteooooooooooo that quilt looks fab ... I just wing it with mine ..lol .. I draw a rough template and work it from there .... worked soo far heheheh
ReplyDeletegot one to do as a special present and then I am doing one for moi for a change ... if you would like to stitch a wee square for my memory quilt I can send you details :) no pressure ..lol love mouse xxxx
There's no need to "cure a quilting bug"... just roll with it! You're doing an awesome job of teaching yourself to quilt! I was surprised at how much fabric & dollars it took for bedsized quilts too... but, at least it's a one of a kind quilt and you know the stitches will hold (unlike some of the cheaply made ones found in the stores)...
ReplyDeleteAs for cross stitching... I thought I was done with it... but then, Blackbird Designs started there new series... In The Garden (or something like that)... so pretty I HAD to sign up for it! :-) I hope to update my blog later today with it.... have a SUPER Sunday and stitch on! :-)
Curious... how's that Juki been treating you? Does it make a nice small blanket stitch?
Your quilt is looking lovely, Sharon! You're really making fantastic progress on it! I don't suppose you even considered hand quilting it huh :D
ReplyDeleteThat quilting bug does take over, doesn't it? But the quilt is so going to be Worth it!

ReplyDeleteNext up, cross stitch quilt? ;)
ReplyDeleteMy ORTs are here.
Your quilt is coming along nicely, isn't it fun to be bitten by the quilting bug? I tend to through myself into something new so I am well saturated with the knowledge so when I do put it aside to work on something else I won't forget, which happened when I first learned to knit at 15, 40 odd years later I found myself taking a learn to knit class and my life was knitcentric for about 2 years. Now I'm passionate about hand embroidery again. Happy Stitching.
