Sunday Sewing

I am enjoying a quiet Sunday morning in my sewing room. While watching quilting shows that were recorded on the DVR I made some key fobs. I already have some finishes and it isn't even midmorning...

It is amazing to me how much I've learned over the past couple years. All the little simple tricks to make things look nicer that experienced sewists take for granted leave me agape when I learn. Like this little trick to join the strap ends leaves you with a loop...you just can't forget to put your clasp on first!

Look close...the fabric reminds you to stitch!

I wish every day could be so carefree.

Four of them finished...two short and two long. They make it so easy to find your keys in your purse! Another trick I learned to save my fingers and nails is using a staple remover to pinch key rings open.

Let's have a giveaway! If you would like a chance to win a "Stitch!" key fob leave me a comment below. Tell me, have you learned any new tricks lately?

This giveaway closes at the end of July 2, 2016...so be sure to comment by Saturday at midnight! I will draw a couple of names and contact the winners by email. NOTE: I will need your email address if your name is drawn as a winner. If I cannot find a way to contact you another person will be chosen. Good Luck!

This giveaway has closed and the winners will be contacted shortly!

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  1. I read in a magazine recently about using a drop of fray stop to secure threads for confetti stitching. I was a bit skeptical but it worked and didn't show through. Now I just need a trick to stop the fray stop bottle nozzle from drying up! The lanyards are really lovely

  2. Where do you get your key fob hardware? While it isn't a trick, you did give me an idea for another use for your long key fob. I have been looking for a means to hang a stitched name tag instead of using a pin. So, thank you!

  3. It's not my idea but whilst blog hopping I saw this for ribbon storage and thought what an excellent idea:

  4. What a great idea! I think I need a reminder as my needles are threatening to rust if I don't use them soon.

  7. I would love to be entered in the draw! The latest trick I learned was the pin stitch for when you have one stitch all the way off by itself. It keeps the back nice and neat and you don't have to worry about it coming out.

  9. Although I haven't tried it yet (will save this trick for a new start), I think I'm going to love Vonna's stitching technique where she goes down through the fabric with the tip of her needle and back up with the eye. No twisting, no knotting; it's amazing to see in action! Vonna has a YouTube channel (Vonna Pfeiffer).

The lanyards & fobs look wonderful! Thank you for a chance to win! Good luck, everyone! (My email is in my Blogger profile.) :-)

  10. The keyfobs look great! Love the fabric! The way you joined the ends is similar to how I join the binding ends on a quilt. Yes... there readlly is soooooo much good stuff to learn with quilting/sewing! But, I enjoy every new morsel!!! :-) Have a beautiful week!

  11. I would have to say I learned 2 new tricks just from this post. The first one is the way you sewed the 2 ends together to get a clean finished looking end. The 2nd trick would be the staple remover trick you mentioned. What a clever idea!!! TFS!!

  13. My new tricks are learning to cross stitch a project starting in the top left hand corner, and "parking" threads. See my blog at https://mansememories.wordpress.com for photos.

    Really really like your fobs.

  14. I love having time to just sit and sew without interruptions. My "vice" is to put in an audio book and just go to town.

I hope you have a great 4th of July.
