Woo! We made it through another Lunar Cycle and the New Moon is here again. Time to show off those ORTs for the Totally Useless Stitch A Long! My mojo is turned on full strength and I have loads of ORTs to share!
That is the most full that jar has been in ages. I have ORTs to spare!
I also have some trimmings in my wooden leaf bowl from making pinpillows.
But all my ORTs were eclipsed by today's event in the USA. A total solar eclipse passed through, although I live in the about 87% of totality area. I got to watch as it got darker and darker. It's rather creepy and I can see why ancient cultures were totally freaked out by the event!
I made the Frosted Flakes box into a view using directions online. It worked Grrrreat! But, I found the paper on the ground and hole punched in an index card trick much easier, plus I could take pictures!
=^..^=
Now it is YOUR turn...we want to see your ORTs! Leave a comment on this post with a link to your August TUSAL post so we can come visit! If I hold a Totally Useless giveaway your comment will earn you an extra entry.

Right! It was so eiry when it got dark and cooler. So glad you got to enjoy the eclipse too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous assortment of ORTs! It looks like you had a good view of the eclipse today. Thanks for sharing your photo!
ReplyDeleteI love the little cat that you made. And nice progress on your BBD piece.
ReplyDeleteI wished I had made me a box to see the eclipse. However, I was able to see it briefly when DS got home with the special glasses given out by his school.
ReplyDeleteHere is the link to my August ORTs!!! Thank you for checking my blog.

Look at you with stitching orts! Yaaaay! You're such a beautiful stitcher!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the 90% totality, however, it rained and rained and rained beforehand and the rest of the day was super cloudy.
Stitching orts! Sewing orts! Look at you go! The cross stitch piece is very pretty and I still love that little cat pinpillow.
ReplyDeleteThat punch-a-hole-in-a-notecard thing really works and your picture shows it off so well. We had about 75% totality here, and the light had that quality you sometimes see before a monster thunderstorm. Hard to believe there was still so much light from only 25%. People at work were happy to share their eclipse glasses and it was very cool to actually look at it.
My August orts are HERE.
Oooh, I love the cat!
ReplyDeleteWe made a box too, but watching it on tv was better.
Wow! That's the first I've seen of the index card technique! I went through the trouble of making the cereal box version...lol! Very cool event and I'm glad I got to get outside (lunchbreak at work) to get to experience that weird hued lighting we had. It was if we were on another planet? lol!
ReplyDeleteNow you have me wanting to stitch one of those cat pinkeeps.... 3 more days until the weekend! :-)
Well, MotherOwl did not see the eclipse. It did not reach Denmark. The ORTs got misplaced. Here is my No ORTs post, I'm so happy for you having lots of time to mate all these pretty ORTs - and of course the sewing ect. neccesary to produce ORTs.
ReplyDeleteHere's my slightly belated ORTS post - http://serendipitousstitching.blogspot.co.uk/2017/08/belated-tusal.html
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see your stitching mojo back and also to see you commenting on blogs again. I've missed the dancing cow!
Great collection of orts! I love the progress you are making on such a sweet stitch. And I really LOVE the cat pincushion...really, really cute! RJ@stitchingfriendsforever
ReplyDeleteAs a cat love I find the pincushion adorable!!! I know what an ort is, leftovers but what do the exact initials stand for? Mary@stitchingfriendsforever
ReplyDeleteOh my I love that little bird stitch at the top. Those thread colors are so pretty! And that is a super jar of orts! Here are mine though I see you have already seen them :)http://cross-stitching-mama.blogspot.ca/2017/08/august-tusal.html?showComment=1504064673213#c4481584096117956953
