Simple and Fun

When I finished Les Moutons I wasn't sure what to do next. I futzed around with my WIPs, Peacock Tapestry and Finery of Nature...blah. I considered beading Peacock Cypher since Lindsay started hers. Beading...blah. Everything was just blah! All I could come up with was creating more finishing work for myself. Christmas ornaments!

My current stitch is  Fa La La, an old Plum Pudding Needleart freebie. I've stitched this a couple times before but always for exchanges or gifts. This one's for me. Stitching over one on Monaco that was boiled in tea so it's now like 26 count.

Already finished is Joy an old Lilybet Designs freebie. I just need the little red JABC star button and it can be finished. Which means I'll have to buy more stuff to justify shipping on a $1.40 button. LOL This is stitched on 28 count Black Jobelan. I ironed black interfacing on the back already.

I've spent hours poking though my stash, finding Christmas ornament designs I want to stitch. Some of these date back to the 1980's when all we knew for ornament finishing were those plastic snap together frames! Remember those? I think I have a bunch downstairs in a craft box. Nowadays we have Vonna Pfeiffer to show us how it's done!

Do you have trouble after finishing a long term project? Tell us!

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  1. Ha! I have so many WIPs, I've never been at a loss to find SOMETHING I want to stitch. I even have that Plum Pudding ornament started somewhere! =D I really like how it's looking over one.

  3. Cute ornaments.
    Yes, I have trouble, lol
Queen Mermaid is still sitting, waiting for me to finish her.
But yet, I still start other projects. :)

  4. You do such a nice job---and it feels good to finish up "old" things! I had a bunch of those plastic snap together forms, too. Have a great Thursday- xo Diana

  5. You're not the only one with the Peacock Tapestry languishing in the WIP basket. I like the Joy. Interesting on the dark fabric.

  7. I love stitching Christmas anything any time of the year, it makes me happy.
I have so many pieces that need to be constructed, I have stitched but not finished many into ornaments, you have inspired me to do so.

  8. I love Joy, it is so cute!

Sometimes I do have a little trouble after finishing a long term project; it is like you have parted ways with an old friend.

  9. Beautiful stitching on both ornaments! And usually I am glad to finish a long term project. Just glad to be done with it and am ready to get back to my other stitching.

  10. Nice work on the Smalls! It's good to stitch a version to keep for yourself too.
I have enough BAPs that there is always something to stitch next! Most of my larger finishes come at the end of the year so I have the excitement of the new starts for the new year!
