After several glorious hours of uninterrupted stitching time I was able to finish my exchange project. Then, I made a good start into my February Snapper. This will go quickly now.
I had a few questions about how I manage all the scads of fabric for this project. 52 inches of fabric is quite a handful! First off, I stitch in hand. And I stitch on a desk top with the fabric resting on the desk. When it is a "regular" project I'll roll the top and fold the bottom. Since this one is "long" I'm rolling the left and folding the right. If I'd thought about it, I would have started stitching "sideways" so I could have my roll & fold the same as usual. But hindsight, you know? I wonder how easy it is going to be stitching December with that big fat roll on the left?
There is a brand-spanking-new blogger on the block! Please, go meet Patti of Any Day Spent Stitching is a Good Day. She is really nice! Patti, would you please add the date stamp to your posts...that way we know how behind we are when we visit. Plus, I'm up for seeing photos of your Reggie sometime!

Whoo hoo for stitching time! I got a few minutes in today. It's like at a snails pace. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some stitching time in finally. The SY is looking good.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found some stitchy time. I cannot believe you stitch in hand...especially Snapper Year! Wow! I'll be unveiling my framed Snapper Year soon...if I can take a good enough picture of it. lol
ReplyDeleteWow, my hands were cramping up with it in a hoop so I had to scrap it and turn to plan B my flip it stamps! It does look wonderful though and I will enjoy watching your progress :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I commend you for doing it that way- I stitch in hand alot but couldn't handle a large piece like that. While working on my stitcher's alphabet I have to use q-snaps!
ReplyDeleteI stitch in hand but my fabric ends up looking crinkled. I just started rolling what I hold in my hand and it helps a lot. I like to stitch in a chair in front of the tv...I had not thought of sitting at a desk.
ReplyDeleteI've finished the stitching on an exchange, now to "Finish" it. Sigh. All I wanna do is stitch up Redbird! :D
ReplyDeleteFebruary is looking good--thanks for the info on handling giant fabrics!
Feb was one of my favorite months to stitch on the snapperyear, your's is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteLooking good...glad you had time to stitch!
ReplyDeleteOooh, great stitching! Gotta love big stretches of uninterupted stitchy time!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks good. I only occassionally stitch in hand. Depends on the size of the project for me. Love your explanation of how you stitch.
ReplyDelete52 inches! That's a whole lot of fabric, but it looks like you've figured out a good way to manage it. Great start on February!
ReplyDeleteEvery progress is a progress, the February snapper looks great, you can finish it on time....
ReplyDeleteYour snapper year is looking good, I don't envy you juggling with that long roll of fabric
ReplyDeletelooking good!!! aren't the projects that stitch fast fun to do?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteThat a big piece of fabric to work with - its looking good, glad you had some quality stitching time
ReplyDeleteLooks great on that fabric. You've made good progress. Good luck with stitching in hand on the whole piece.
ReplyDeletethis is going to look so good as one piece - but so long! I really must get on with mine, i started this about two or maybe three years ago and still only made it to April lol - this will be the year i finish them (maybe!)
ReplyDeleteI'm stitching Christmas at HRH in hand, too, Sharon. Still struggling with the sheer size of the fabric, but I'm slowly getting used to it.
ReplyDeleteYour February snapper is off to a great start!
The color of the heart is so pretty. I'll be heading over to the new blog right soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great start! I cannot believe you stitch in hand...wow. I've tried and I just can't do it.
ReplyDeleteThat's for the link to Patty's blog. It's fun finding new bloggers.
Hooray for stitching time and what great progress you have made! Thanks for sharing the link to Patti's site.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad to see you started :o) So you're doing all in one row. That would be a handful of fabric!
ReplyDeleteBtw, if you are interested in selling your monthly snappers when you're done, plmk because I'd love to stitch this :o)
Glad you got some stitching time Sharon, your snappers looking great!
ReplyDeleteIt's all looking great...I love your stitching!

When I stitched in hand, I did the same thing as you when I had big projects (which was most of the time), but then I went to the dark side and use scroll rods. I don't think that I stitch as fast though!
ReplyDeleteLooking good! That is going to be one wide piece :o)
ReplyDeleteWhoo hoo! Yay for stitching time. Your start on February looks good but my what a large piece of fabric.
ReplyDeleteComing along nicely, Sharon! I really like these snappers so I'll be watching your progress!
ReplyDeleteI stitch in hand too for the most part but will give into the qsnaps once in a blue moon.
Uninterrupted stitching time is the best!! Your February snapper is looking fabulous! I stitch in hand too mostly. Every now and then I will go back to my qsnaps, but I can stitch in hand so much faster. I am going to have to try rolling my fabric like you do. Less wrinkles. :)
ReplyDeletelooking good!!!
ReplyDeleteYAY for stitching time!!!! Can you stitch with the fabric upside down? That would mean the roll was on the correct side for you.
ReplyDeleteLook at you! Antoher year long stitching project!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing bettert than unlimited stitching time. You made good use of it. Looking forward to seeing your exchnage piece.
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the best of luck for the new position in your job. You will soon have adjusted to getting up so early in the morning. Although I have to admit that 4.30 is really early ...
I've missed so much good stuff!! Your love bug is adorable!! And your new project is looking fabu. I just bought ROWmance, and I really like this one too. Have a great day girl!
ReplyDeleteIt's lookin' good! Love the fabric. It is to die for. Congrats on the promotion at work. That is awesome. Training is always fun, but it is always well worth it. Can't wait to see the next pics!

I'm glad that you got some stitching progress in! Your WIP looks great.
ReplyDeleteI've never worked on a piece of fabric so big but I saw another stitcher do something interesting. She rolled her fabric and then was using a hair clip to hold it in place. You know the ones that will hold a ponytail? I'd be afraid that it would mark the fabric from the teeth but she says she hasn't had any problems.
ReplyDeleteLove your start on Snappers! I have all the fabric and threads but am afraid to start!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic. I love it :)
