Being eager to stitch something other than Snapper Year led me to pull out an old WIP (work in progress.) Peacock Cypher was my choice. I last worked on this in March of 2009! That was when I got all caught up in Crabby All Year and Peacock Cypher was relegated to a UFO (unfinished object.) This is a Just Nan design and is charted in silks but I'm using the DMC version since silk gives me an itchy rash. In fact, it was stitching this ~in silk~ that clued me in to being allergic to silk. I ended up having to frog the silk, wash the fabric and restart in DMC. This is the section I am currently working on...the very bottom row.
Then there are three rows left to do at the top. Isn't it pretty so far? I can't wait to do the beading! My favorite part about this design is the over-one letters ~ just so much fun to stitch!
After several concerned emails, it occurs to me I never posted results about the kid and the kitten. The ten days passed on the 18th and the kitten does not have rabies! Woo! Jessie was overjoyed to know she would not need injections. I was not too very worried as I knew rabies was unlikely. Rick, well he was simply glad his girls did not insist on keeping said kitten. He tolerates Taco but dogs are his joy.
.
Don't forget...there is still time to enter my Bad Hair Day giveaway! See Monday's post to enter! Many thanks to everyone entered so far. Mary now has over twice the followers she had on her old blog and I'm sure that is a bit of comfort after the horror she endured! You guys are great!
.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!

That's good news about Jessie.
ReplyDeletePeacock looks good. Keep going and it will no longer be a UFO.
It's a beautiful design. And congratulations on 400 followers. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Stitching
Sometimes going back to an out WIP is like running into a friend that you haven't seen for a while and you're so happy you have. This is a beautiful piece and I can't wait to see the bling when you add it.
ReplyDeleteI am doing my first over one stitch at the moment and it might become a UFO, and it is only an ornament LOL
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching and I'm so happy for Mary!! the stitching bloggers are a great group of people!!
ReplyDeleteHugs
-missy-
Peacock Cypher is gorgeous. I really like the blue. I've never tried over one - I hear you either love it or hate it.
ReplyDeleteI like Cypher better in your DMC colors.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very pretty piece and I love the color. I am glad things worked out well with the kitten. Have a safe and happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful! What a joy to see this one again, you'll be happy dancin soon :)
ReplyDeleteI love the blues in this piece!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear there's no shots to endure :)
Your peacock cypher looks great, I'm a big "over 1" fan too, specially with lettering, it allows you to fit so much more text in.
ReplyDeleteGlad the kitten got a clean bill of health
Looking forward to the finish :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful
What a great WIP... Good luck with it. Not many differnt colors... so I can understand it can be a bit boring.. Good luck with it
ReplyDeletePeacock is stunning!! I love all those blues or are they more of a turquoise? That's too bad about your allergy to the silks. I hope you hadn't got very far before you had to frog everything.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Jessie didn't need the needles. Rick sounds like my hubby. Bob tolerates cats but loves black labs. However he does have a fondness for this new kitty of ours but of course he'd never admit it!
oh,sorry for the aleergic reaction to the silk floss, i have trouble with some fabric with sizing (i dont know if is the correcto word), the
ReplyDeletematerial gives the appearance of cardboard.
What a pretty piece! What a shame that such a talented stitcher as you are is allergic to silks. But the DMC looks great.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Jessie is in the clear!
Very, very pretty! I love the style and the colours.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous UFO!
ReplyDeleteGood new about the kitty too.
What great news that the kitten was free of rabies!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your Peacock Cypher progress, Sharon--blue is my color, so it is especially attractive...I also love stitching over one, but I avoid beading except for the occasional snowman's eyes or something. Have fun with this :)
Peacock piece looks fab Sharon, love the blue you are using.
ReplyDeleteGlad Jess didn;t need those horrible injections.
Have a great week-end. Hugs.
This IS lovely Sharon and I hope you will bring it out in the open again ;o)
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad to hear Jessie does not have to have a rabies shot! Whew!
I wonder why this pretty design became an UFO. Are the beads blue too or do they have different colours?
ReplyDeleteKnowing the kitten doesn't have rabies will be a relief to all of you.
Great progress!
ReplyDeleteThat looks fantastic! Not long now til it's finished!
ReplyDeleteCypher Peacock is a beautiful project! I love the shades of blue that you are using.
ReplyDeleteGlad it was a negative on the rabies!

ReplyDeletePeacock cypher is coming along a treat - hmmm, wonder if it will change status again from WIp to HD before it goes back in the basket?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that both kitty and daughter are ok! *whew*.....girl, I thought you threw out that peacock sampler! LOL It looks fabby but of course.
