Spc. Jordan Morris of Stillwater, Oklahoma paid the ultimate price on Aug 11, 2011. Although I never had the honor to know him, I thank him for my freedom. May God bless his family and friends.
My husband, Rick (aka Dash) is the Patriot Guard Ride Captain for Stillwater. He had the responsibility of leading the PGR yesterday, August 20, 2011 as they honored Spc. Morris and his family. A big job but he loved doing it. Dash had 257 motorcycles, trikes and their riders to guide. (The unofficial count was 288.) That is my husband saluting the family with his fellow riders behind him.
The PGR in the funeral procession to the cemetery. That's Dash, on the first bike. You can't see it but bikes are still turning the corner waaay back. Wow, the Patriot Guard turned out en masse!
This video shows the riders traveling to the funeral site after being briefed on the mission. Many, many people volunteered efforts to keep the riders fed and hydrated during a long, long hot day. Thank you! Another big thank you to all the other Ride Captains and riders that assisted Dash yesterday.

Oh Daffy, I don't even know if I can type with the tears in my eyes. I am not one that comes to tears easy. I love how Dash got his name. What a fitting name for him. I am so sorry for the lose to the Morris family. All I can say is thank you Jordon for what you did for all Americans. Thank You Dash for helping his family say goodbye to Jordon and Thank You Daffy for sharing a little bit of his life with us.
ReplyDeleteToo many Oklahoma men gone the past few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI live not very far from Luke Air Force Base here in Arizona. When I hear the sound of those F-16's fly over my neighborhood, I am reminded of all the many men and women who keep us safe and I am forever grateful.
ReplyDeleteYeah, what Blu said. Can't type and cry at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI wish more people would do things like this. We live in the burbs of the large metro area and they do not do things like this. It is wonderful that your town does this.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you to your hubby for what he does for our fallen!! And thank you for sharing such a beautiful, though sad video! And most of all Thank you Spc. Jordan Morris for dying so I could continue enjoying my freedom! Freedom is def. not free!! God Bless America.
ReplyDeleteOk, where are my kleenex?...::looking around, tearfully::
Wow, how impressive is that. Bikers have a bad rep, and to see them turn out like this to honor a fallen servicemember may make some people think twice about their prejudices. Big kudos to your DH and all his friends!! That's a wonderful thing they did!
ReplyDeleteGod's blessings to Dash and his fellow Patriots. Give him a huge than you from my husband and me, please.
ReplyDeleteWhat your DH and his fellow bikers are doing is an incredible show of respect and honor. Please thank him for me. I don't know if this sort of thing goes on here in Canada or not. I haven't heard of it in any case.
ReplyDeleteI do know that when our dead returned from Afghanistan they would arrive at the airforce base in Trenton, Ontario. From there they travelled to Toronto for PMs.
At every overpass on their journey on our highway 401, people would line the overpass and salute the motorcade as they rode past. That stretch of the highway is now known and the Highway of Heroes.
They deserve our respect and I thank every last one of them for helping to preserve freedom.
Thank you and Dash for doing this and sharing this with everyone. So important that we not forget a single hero or their families.
ReplyDeleteThank-you Daffycat and your Husband and the Riders.
ReplyDeleteIf everyone took one minute to think about just what these Men and Women are doing for our Country and our Freedoms, maybe more would respect them and their jobs as the people who protect us.
I am so sad their are still people who hate and despise the wonderful Service Men and Women of this beautiful country U.S.A.
God Bless America and All Who Protect Her.
Many blessings to the Morris Family, my heart aches for their loss.

A Big Hug to Dash!
ReplyDeleteMay God's embrace be with the Morris family now and always.
Hugs
thank you for sharing this with us, but I think Blu Stitcher said every thing that I'm feeling right now along with the others. Freedom has never been free and I thank you for the reminder. Praying for the Morris family and others just like them and for all the good guys like Dash and his Patriots who do what they do.

Very touching! We take so much for granted that it is important to remember a price is paid by many unsung heroes.
ReplyDeleteSharon,
ReplyDeleteWhat a touching video. It breaks my heart when you have to hear about a soldier losing his/her life from a blog. How come we don't hear about these men/women in the news anymore?
My heart goes out to the Morris Family. I will keep them in my prayers.
Thank you to your husband and the Patriot Guard Riders for caring.
Thank you to the brave men and women in the military for protecting my freedom. My family and I thank them for keeping us safe.
We went to a honour our armed forced day last March, here in the Uk, there were thousands of bikers, we took over an old air field and then drove through a local town following the route taken by our fallen guys, but there were more people than bikers watching, it's important for our guys fighting to know we are there for them and they are not forgotten, whilst they fight a war.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless the family and friends of Spc. Jordan Morris' family for his heroic and ultimate sacrifice, that others might know freedom.
ReplyDeleteYour husband Rick, must be a very special man, and honors the aka of "Dash", for it is really the "dash" in our lives that represents the true meaning behind the life we live. He is living a life of great meaning, serving and giving so selflessly to others. You must be so proud of him.
I am so thankful for all of the men and women who serve us, in the name of "freedom". The dedication and love given by Patriot Guards, to honor our fallen heroes and their families is truly marvelous. Thankyou for sharing this heartfelt, but bittersweet story.
You're right about the cost of freedom. Our servicemen and women deserve so much more than they receive.
ReplyDeleteI thank Jordan too for his ultimate sacrifice and feel for the family. As a vet myself I am very thankful to all service men and women. Everytime I see one I thank them for their service. We live near a large base where we often see men and women in uniform and the f-16s rountinely fly over our home. I get this feeling in the pit of my stomach when they do and I salute them. Thank God for all those who unselfishly put their own lives on hold to serve our country and keep America safe.
ReplyDeleteFeeling too much at this moment to say anything...
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing and touching thing to do!
ReplyDeleteThis post sent chills down my spine. Thank you to your husband, and his friends. My condolences to the family.
