I'm not usually a "joiner." You know...the girl that has two dozen club/church/friendship groups to go to every week? I am shy and quiet and usually tend to go my own way. But 2012 looks like there are loads of awesome things to do online!
First up comes the TUSAL. This one is easy since I've been hosting for the past year! TUSAL posts on the NEW moon each month.
Then there is Measi's WIPocalypse. This one should be fun since there is an overflowing bin of things that want stitching and an overloaded WIP bin of stuff that needs working on. WIPocalypse posts on the FULL moon each month.
Next we have Joysze's International Hermit and Stitch Weekend. There is nothing I like better than a do-not-disturb-stitching-session! IHSW "meets" the 3rd weekend of each month, posting on the Monday following.
There is also Heather's Theme-a-licious to follow! Every month is a fun theme to stitch too. It will be fun trying to come up with interesting posts each month. Theme-a-licious posts on the 15th and again on the last day each month.
Finally, we have Becky's BAP Challenge. This is a project to stitch between January 1st and December 31st of 2012. The project must be at least 10 x 12 and not a current WIP. There is a prize to be given away (a $100 GC) drawn from those that finish their project. This challenge is a post-any-time but does need to be updated when there is progress.
Holy crows! I'm gonna be so busy! I wonder if there is anything left out there for me to join?
So this brings me to that picture I'm teasing you with up there! That is Dimensions The Finery of Nature, a kit I have had in my stash for years. I will be starting this for the BAP Challenge which also takes up the Theme-a-licious of Jardin January. Starting this one will also count towards my WIPocalypse goal of reducing my unworked-but-wanting-to-stitch stash. I should be able to make good progress during the International Hermit and Stitch weekends, filling up that ORT jar for the TUSAL.
I hope I can remember all this stuff.
I'm in the process of kitting up this kit. Yeah, I said that right. It came as a kit but I just don't like it! First off, I didn't like the aida ~ toss ~ replaced with 28 count black Jobelan. Then I couldn't bring myself to use the yucky threads it came with. Today I matched them all up with DMC and I will buy those after work tomorrow. I'd be really mad if I ran out of a color after I had a major frog. DMC is just safer, even if it is only in my head. I am excited about my new start!
I do have quite a few other things in my stash that need stitching too. Updates will follow. If I don't get lost.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Hi Sharon, You seem really organised. Lovely design, I look forward to seeing its progress.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Kaye xoxox
Ooh that chart looks so beautiful on the dark linen. I love seeing old charts, that no one else is stitching.
ReplyDeleteWhew, you are going to be one busy bee!
ReplyDeleteI joined most of those too haha. Love the reasons to stitch and to blog. Can't wait to watch your progress on this piece. It's sure beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour new piece is absolutely GORGEOUS! I'm looking forward to following your progress...and how many birds did you kill with that stone??? More than two I would say. LOL
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I've joined the WIPacolpyse too. I'm thinking of hosting my own Olympic stitch starting May 18th when the relay starts. Really have to start then because there's hardly anytime to stitch during the games themselves (and I throw in the para-oylmpics too! I'm hoping for better coverage online this year.)
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot to remember! Good luck :D I really like that pattern. I'd end up switching out the fabric and threads too, kits are just yucky to work with.
ReplyDeleteWow! Its going to be a busy year for you. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteA lovely choice of pattern. I am looking forward to seeing your progress.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to be really busy! Only thing to do is quit our jobs and send our families around the world. And I'm with you--shy, quiet, reserved and happiest with a needle in my hand. Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a busy year!
ReplyDeleteI loved the TUSAL last year and can't wait for this year. My jar is empty (jan 1 dump) and I even washed it!
I am also taking part in the WIPocolypse and hope to see some dent in my WIPS before the world ends ;)
And if that wasn't enough, I just signed up for the BAP challenge you mentioned! I am using my groups SAL in that one... It came in with just enough stitches!
Can't wait to see your many amazing posts as 2012 progresses along :)
That is a beautiful design! Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all those SALs.

Looks like a great stitch! I'm going to have to have a hunt around for my BAP - the stash piece I was thinking of turned out to be just not quite big enough!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of joining you've done! lol! I love that piece you're going to do for the BAP challenge! It's so pretty! Looking forward to seeing you stitch it and other pieces as well. Good luck with all your challenges!
ReplyDeleteSo, you're going from non-joiner to joining each group you find...good for you! By the end of the year you'll have 200 finishes! lol
ReplyDeleteWow, you're joining in lots of things there! I would love to join in some, but I've been so lax at blogging and commenting for a while that I'm worried that they would fall by the wayside as well so just going to try to get back into blogging lol.
ReplyDeleteThere'll be lots to blog about in the coming year with all those activities, can't wait to come and read how you are getting on.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful chart and how clever of you to pull together so many different challenges to meet your goals.
ReplyDeleteHave a great stitching year.
Seems like you're going to be really really busy! I am just going to start with the TUSAL and hope I can keep track of that one before I join in any others :) Enjoy your stitching!
ReplyDeleteSharon ... I, too, am somewhat shy & reserved & quiet & not really a joiner in "real life" but I get to be quite the social butterfly online ... lol! Best of luck with all your online commitments! That kit you are going to start looks amazing! Blessings, Shirlee
ReplyDeleteLove your new project. You will be one busy stitcher!!!!
ReplyDeleteI adore your new WIP, Daff...the colors are gorgeous , both fabric and floss..I cannot wait to see your progress :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, and I am so proud of you for joining in...yay! I adore your TUSAL and am on my 3rd year LOL. I must check out the Hermit weekend, it sounds right up my ally.
Hugs kiddo

Beautiful design! Looking forward to watching your progress.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you won't get bored this coming year. I love all the opportunities out there to keep stitching and sharing. I can't wait to watch your BAP grow!
ReplyDeleteYou do have a lot to keep track of this year, but they all sound like fun. Love the piece you're starting with. I have rekitted a kit or two myself. I don't know where the fabric comes from that they use, but I've never had a piece I've wanted to keep.
ReplyDeleteThat piece is bee-YOO-tee-FULL!! Yeah, you'll be good for several Theme-a-licious months...March Madness, Amazon April, Jumanji June, Altius August, and hopefully by Nail-it November, you'll have a happy dance!! =)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are going to be a busy girl :)
ReplyDeletewow, the piece you are getting ready to start is gorgeous. I can not wait to see pictures of it in progress!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post Daffycat, I've been pondering for a few days now whether I'll sign up to anything for 2012 as I didn't do very well in 2011 ;) The thing I like about this post is it's focused on fun and there's not much pressure involved to get things finished, sometimes I think the more deadlines I have the less I want to do! x
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous design you've chosen for the BAP challenge.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your 2012 stitching!
Margaret
sounds like you'll be having a great (although really busy) time!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved that Dimensions Kit :) There is a challenge I've joined which I don't think you have mentioned - UFO challenge started by Evalina: http://evalinamaria.blogspot.com/p/oldest-ufo.html
ReplyDeleteGorgeous design and can't wait to see your progress!
ReplyDeleteI'd say you're going to be one busy gal! WOW!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh...I DO love that pattern :o)
There's all kinds of cool challenges going on out there for sure! That kit is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Love the new project...so pretty! I've got the TUSAL, IHSW and the BAP challenge going. That alone is enough to make my head spin!
ReplyDeleteWay to go combining all those challenges. You are a clever one!
ReplyDeleteThat BAP is gorgeous - I hope we get to see it grow this year. I still haven't signed up for the TUSAL - I am waaaayyy behind!
ReplyDeleteOh that is a wonderful kit Sharon! It's going to be so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI've joined three of the challenges you've mentioned. There's a fourth one too. Did you know that Becky is also hosting a winter stitch challenge? Check it out. It looks like fun too!
Thank you for drawing attention to the different postings on the New moon and the Full moon! I hadn't caught that and sort of just assumed both were on the same day.
ReplyDeleteSo many great groups to join this year, and I love that I can overlap some of them and really concentrate on getting a few things finally finished and out of the dusty WIP basket.
And I'm in all of those SALs with you! :)
ReplyDeleteSo excited for this year - it seems like so many of us are just energized to get some progress made on our stitching. It's going to be a fun year of sharing!
Sounds like you are going to be very busy this year! I've heard of most of those that you're taking part in but haven't signed up for any.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with everything!
I love your schedule!
ReplyDeleteKathee
Awesome!!! This is going to be such a fun year with all our stitchy friends and I'm hoping for lots and LOTS of pics. :D
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your Finery. :D
That is a gorgeous design, looking forward to all of the updates while you participate in all of these stitchy things.
ReplyDeleteI’m knitting a black rib scarf for DS at the moment and have the same problem. Black shows everything doesn’t it? You have chosen a lovely project and I’m looking forward to seeing your progress on The Finery of Nature. I’m with you on chucking things you don’t like. I’m a DMC fan from way back!
ReplyDeleteyou have chosen a very nice embroidery.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Finery of Nature, now I am out hunting to see if I can possibly find it!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and your stitching is great. Always interesting!
I am joining the BAP Challenge today, will post later. I was deciding on which project to use for it.
Had already started BBD Christmas Garden the day or two before New Years so couldn't use it.
I'll post today.
