Thrilled

Someone threw this jar in the trash at work and I happened to find it before it disappeared. Can you believe someone would throw away a perfectly good ORT jar? I rushed it right home and washed it and filled it with my ORTs. This is at least twice as big as my old jar plus it photographs with much less glare. My old jar was a gift from Jessie, my daughter. I hope she doesn't mind me replacing it! Sorry, kiddo!

I've had a couple of hours free to stitch on The Finery of Nature. Sadly, this does not photograph as well as the new jar. Ugh, black fabric is hard to shoot! I will figure out the best way to take this one's photo before I'm done stitching. For now, will you please excuse the lint and odd colors?

I'm enjoying the stitching but I keep being insanely distracted by fuzzies. You can't see these fuzzies when stitching on lighter colored fabrics unless it happens to be a black-dog-hair fuzzy. On this black background I see them ALL. I keep "picking" at them. Oh gee ~ they are all over the place! My advice ~ buy stock in companies that make lint rollers. They are sure to gain before I'm through with this project.

We had great news! Sheba's last blood test was normal! The doctor has prescribed a heart medication and a vitamin supplement. The heart medicine is so her heart does not have to work as hard and this should give her a little more energy. The supplement is for joint health. Sheba is feeling much better these days. She isn't quite up to tennis ball fetching like a pup but now and again she has been getting out a stuffy-toy and shaking it to pieces. Her neck is dreadfully itchy. Not sure if this is the incision or the shaved fur but we have spent a lot of time rubbing a stubbly neck lately! Thanks again to everyone for all the well wishes for Sheba. Much appreciated!

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  2. That's a great new ort jar, but I prefer those gorgeous floss colors next to it, haha. Great news about Sheba; give her an extra neck rub from me, please.

  6. When I told my hubby about ORT he looked at me like we are nuts. Then the lightblub went on. He is thrilled that he will no longer have threads on his shirts, pants, socks. I didn't have the heart to tell me having an ORT jar didn't come with guarantees;-)

  7. Cool jar! What a lucky find. :)

I don't particularly like stitching on dark fabrics. The lint and pet hair drives me nuts.

Glad to hear Sheba is doing better!

  9. Glad to hear that Sheba is better. Great new Ort jar - I have my eye out for a new one, too.

Isn't black fabric difficult to work on? I alway find that.

  10. This post calls for a celebration! A new orts jar, good news for Sheba, and the news that I am not the only one driven bonkers by the fluffies that attach themselves to my stitching. ;)

  12. Good news about Sheba, our pets are so precious. I always admire those who can stitch on dark fabric it is so hard on the eyes but so beautiful when finished.

  15. Useful tip for lint - wrap a piece of Sellotape around your first two fingers, sticky side out. Use that to pick up the lint.
I do it when I've left a tissue in the washing and there's fluff all over the black t-shirts!

  22. I am so glad to hear Sheba is doing better. I have been waiting for an update. :o) That IS a great ort jar - reminds me of the time someone brought a cat into the hospital and in the carrier full of cat food was a zinc jar lid. One of the assistants was about to toss it in the trash when I yelled "noooooo! give me that!" I still have to find the perfect pattern to make it into a pincushion. :o) As they say, one mans trash...

  23. OH pretty jar! Really I'd think someone would have checked to see if anyone needed a jar :p

Love the new start. Ah the joys of stitching on black. Just take care of it when it's done and it will come off :)

  24. OH gosh I have one lonely piece of black linen that I tried to stitch on once upon a time. I got so mad that I couldn't see to do it......it's now in my stash bag.
Maybe I'll get it out and try again!

    Good news about Sheba! YAY!

  25. It's very difficult to stitch on black/dark colored linen. Especially with cat hair in the house!
I'm so glad about Sheba. If she's picking up toys and shaking them it sounds like she's on the mend!

  34. I'm so glad to hear Sheba is feeling better!
The ort jar is a fabulous find! That should hold a fair amount of those orts.
Your stitch on the black is so pretty. I haven't tried stitching anything on black yet partly because it's black and partly because I know just how much cat fur it will attract!

  36. Wonderful news about Sheba. The colors look beautiful on the black, but I do remember the lint issue. One of my starts this year is on black and I am not looking forward to the fluffies.

  38. Hooray for Sheba! So happy to hear she is feeling better! I know what you mean about the pet hair - I sometimes think I spend more time picking out little kitty hairs than I do stitching! The ORT jar is cool!
