Tweet Heart

Well, you didn't think I'd get anywhere near Tulsa on a Saturday and not visit The Silver Needle, did you? Of course, almost the second I walked through the door a few Blackbird Designs things got stuck to my hands. I couldn't get rid of the stuff and I ended up having to pay for them! Can you imagine? Then after I got home this little project kept calling my name, begging to be stitched. Chalk this one up as the miracle project...one that Daffycat stitched AND finished with 24 hours, beginning to end. This never happens!

Design ~ Tweet Hearts, Exemplar #1
Designer ~ Alma Allen of Blackbird Designs
Fabric ~ 32 count tea-stained Belfast Linen
Fiber ~ DMC

A darling project. It is from the book For My Friend. I'm fond of mildly prim finishes like this ~ very forgiving of my inexpert sewing skills! This shaped bit of sewing was somewhat a challenge to me ~ I had a little trouble catching both fabrics in the seam. Not like a square pillow, is it? I neatly covered my doofy seams with a buttonhole stitch using # 12 Perle Cotton. The green plaid fabric shown was my backing and since a sweet pinpillow needed some pretty new pins, I made four to go with. I'm just tickled with it. Be aware...99% of the credit goes to Barb and Alma for the lovely detailed finishing instructions in their books.

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

  1. That's adorable! Congrats on the finish!

I'm pretty sure if I started and finished something in 24 hours, the world would implode, leaving a black hole in its place.

YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

  36. Oh, is that adorable!! I've never attempted a heart-shaped finish. I am a wimp :) I'll get up my nerve one of these years--hope my first attempt turns out this well!!

  37. Oooh, I love it! If it was forgiving for you then I know it will work for me too. My sewing skills are less than stellar! I just won this BBD book from Melissa @ Words and Blooms. I can hardly wait until it gets here!

  38. LOL! Things get stuck to your hands! That very same thing happens to me when I go to my favorite LNS!!

  39. Beautiful stitching and finishing! And all in a days time?! I'm impressed! And really the owners at the Silver needle really aught to train their stash better! To think those BD pieces just hopped into your hand and DEMANDED to be taken home! And they say hostage situations at gun point is dangerous! Do they know about the new needle-point situations going on?! So very dangerous! Especially for ones wallet!! LOL

  44. Just wonderful, the stitching and the finishing. The more stitched projects I see from this book the more I feel the need that I really need this book. So, from this point of view I can easily understand how all these BBD books got litterally glued to your hand when visiting the Silver Needle, lol.

Yes, anything within 100 miles (more or less) of Tulsa requires a stop at SN!

  49. I love the idea of a velco Daffycat with projects stuck all over her!

A 24 hour finish is great, I've only managed that with cards!
