I think it was Parsley that recently mentioned something about going through your blog list and deleting blogs that are inactive or that have been removed. Oh my, it's been so long since I've done that ~ I mean the ones you see here on my blog. Maybe since I first set up those lists? It took me an entire week but I think I have them cleaned up! I removed the links that no longer worked and those that went to blogs that haven't been updated in months. Isn't it annoying to click a link and be directed to a blog that was last updated two years ago?
Another thing I did was update my reader. About a year and a half ago I was doing something on Google Reader and somehow managed to delete most of the blogs I was reading. Being in a severe blogging funk, I didn't do too much about it, relying on what was left, who appeared on my following page and on those that commented on my sparse blog posts for any needed blogging fixes. Then Google Reader went away and I had to move so I chose Feedly. However, I was still missing most of my blogs! This past week, as I went through my blog list, I added them all back into my reader. Happy days are here again!
A little note from Molly:
Mom & Dad went to the pet store to buy me a big bag of dog food.
They came home with some toys because I keep eating all the old ones.
I got a big peanut butter chew bone.
A stuffed soccer ball and a flat weasel.
This is a really good bone!
Mom says the whole house smells like peanut butter.
Did I hear dad just open the back door?
Maybe he's gone back to the pet store!

Molly looks wonderful! And there are far worse things than your house smelling like PB, right? My dogs are older but they outgrew playing with toys really quickly. I think it's because they play with each other so much.

I too have also had a clean up. I follow blogs using Bloglovin, but am unable to comment on blogs, so still have to revert to the PC to do so. I found loads that were updated years ago. Your dog looks so happy with her toys :) x

ReplyDeleteHow funny, I was just going through my list and deleting some blogs today that haven't posted for months. I agree with you, when I look at blog lists to find some new (to me) blogs to check out, I get frustrated when one catches my attention just to find out they haven't posted in a year! Molly is a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteA blog list is too much work for me. I just use Feedly (I used Google Reader before its tragic demise) and if a blog disappears or stops updating I never notice. I'm very grateful for folks like you who maintain lists so that the lazy people like me can benefit ;)

Hmmmm, I should do that as well, cleaning house I mean. I'm sure there are also a couple of blogs on my list that don't exist any longer. But adding new ones to my list is much funnier than cleaning house, lol.

ReplyDeleteI just mentioned on Riona's blog that I hadn't done that clean up for a very long time. I know there are some that no longer blog and some that are still blogging but under a different name. Now if I could just wave a magic wand and have it done...
I did the great cleanout too when I was forced to switch from Google reader to BlogLovin. Still have to tackle the ones I have linked on my blog. btw - if you ever decide you just can't stand living with Molly (as if!!) I would happily give her a good home!!

My blog list is done in Order Posted so the most recent posts are at the top. That way of someone doesn't post for ages they slip down to the bottom and I can delete them if I want. But I figured if they aren't posting then they aren't filling my Feedly Reader up so it doesn't tmatter if they sit there doing nothing and one day they might spring back to life!!

That is something I have to tackle too. I have been using the patch as I go method, but it leaves something to be desired. When google reader went away, I did a little house cleaning before transferring to Blog loving and the Old Reader. I found out that I absolutely HATE bloglovin, so now I use The old reader, but I think I may have lost some people along the way.

ReplyDeleteI know the feeling lol. When I had to become my mums full time carer, I was unable to blog for a while and when I came back googlereader had disappeared. I eventually went with bloglovin but it takes ages to find all those that I used to follow, and some are still missing. I really need far more hours each day to do everything I need too.
