What other hobbies do you have? I enjoy many, hopping from one to the other as the mood strikes. One of my other pastimes is jigsaw puzzles. I'm rather picky though...they must be photographs, not paintings and 1000 pieces or more. I will put the puzzle together, then box it back up and away it goes. I don't glue them together and I don't save them...unless they have to do with needlework!
This one I have had forever. I've gotten it out and worked it at least twice. These Roseart were the best puzzles!
This one I bought as a belated Christmas present to myself. Nice quality but, Oh, so expensive compared to the cheap ones years ago! I put it together a couple weeks ago, admired and boxed it back up for a rainy day.
I found this one on eBay and paid ten times the original price, lol. I haven't even opened it yet. It looks like a hard one! The Kodacolor were awesome puzzles too. I remember going to the drug store and getting a couple of these or the Roseart brand, usually landscapes or famous places. Kinda like traveling right at the kitchen table.
I'd love to hear about your hobbies!
Thank you for visiting my blog today!

I like puzzles too!!
ReplyDeleteLove puzzles and needlework and quilting. Ravens burger makes great puzzles too!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in college, puzzles were my treat between semesters. I've not done one in a few years, but it was fun to come in from work, add a few pieces then go to bed. Repeat on my way out the door. I've still got all of the ones I worked then, but they've not come out of the closet in a while.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles. I love to handwrite notes just to let someone know that I am thinking of them. Hmmm, I like to paper craft as well.
ReplyDeleteI like puzzles but I am opposite on pictures, I prefer paintings. Other hobbies are medieval reenactment and regular camping. And I LOVE to go hiking.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I realized reading your post that I haven't done a puzzle in many years...makes me want to do one, now LOL.
ReplyDeleteMy almost 85 year Uncle still loves a 1000 piece photo jigsaw puzzle...he's amazing.
Hugs
Of course there is Needlework ie; cross stitch, Hardanger, pulled and drawn thread, embroidery and sewing. Used to like candlewicking and crochet but haven't done either in almost 15 years. Love designing needlework charts. Other than those I do like a good jigsaw puzzle, word puzzles, and playing solitaire games especially when camping.
ReplyDeletePuzzles are so much fun... you should look at the Wasgij puzzles. The picture on the box isn't the puzzle you do. It is a mystery that keeps you going and they are a fun picture too.
ReplyDeleteI love doing jigsaw puzzles. My favorites are Springbok.

I like jigsaws and have a jigroll so I can roll them away in-between doing them. Although I must confess most of my jigsaws are currently done on the internet as I cam across this site https://www.jigsawexplorer.com/ a year or so ago and find the mystery Friday jigsaw compulsory. In real life I prefer 1000+ jigsaws but on the internet it is around 200 pieces or I'd get nothing done.
ReplyDeleteToo many hobbies or things I like to do is my problem. That - and a lack of space for all my projects. It's a zillion years since I put together a puzzle. I'm not picky about how the motif was made, but it has to appeal to me. I'm a slow puzzler, so I have to stand looking at the pieces and the more and more finished motif for weeks. I have one with M.C.Esher's hand and a sphere which I look forward to putting together once the tidying of my room is done.
ReplyDeleteOther than textile endeavours like sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidering (cross stitches, Japanese sashiko and kogin), and weaving, I enjoy paper making and -using, wood working and turning, candle making, soaping, basket weaning, candy wrapper "art" ... in short, I love using my hand and mind learning something new and producing pretty and useable objects.
Aside from my needlework I enjoy making pottery, jewelry making, reading and love puzzles I have those that you posted.
ReplyDeleteHOLY SMOKES! What puzzles you have!!! I'm impressed. Besides needlework, I love painting, 1:12 scale miniatures and sculpting.....and now I've decided I need to learn to sculpt horses out of clay.

My husband used to do many many puzzles but having two naughty cats around isn't conducive:-)
ReplyDeleteEven with a puzzle board they still mess it up. He enjoyed lots of Charles Wysocki puzzles amongst many other themes - I liked to dabble with the odd piece.
We usually have a puzzle on the go at Christmas, but not thus ear due to the cold and germs, it just didnt happen.
ReplyDeleteThat button one looks difficult.
I love doing jigsaw puzzles! When we moved here, I had this vision in my head of sitting in the living room on a snowy day, putting together a puzzle on the coffee table while the flakes piled up. Right. Been here six years and nary a puzzling snowfall yet, LOL. I really like the ones you pictured.
ReplyDeleteOther hobbies seem to come and go - stitching is the only thing that stays strong.
It has only been in the last few years that I have not bought myself a new puzzle to do after Christmas. It was my way of relaxing after all the stress of family gatherings. I love the one you have with the floss and hoops! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThere are puzzles with stitching stuff on them?!?!? Oh my I need to find some!! I do like making puzzles but my youngest is 4 so maybe a couple more years before we give big ones a go again.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a few years, but my family has often had a big puzzle as a project over the Christmas/New Year holidays. A very low-key, but companionable way to spend time together. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are some great puzzles! We used to do puzzles when I was a kid....bring one to a cabin we rented every summer. It was something relaxing to do near an open window and listen to the waves from the lake in the evenings. Ahhhh... I do have MANY hobbies.... a couple of them being quilting, cross stitch, needlepoint, crochet, rug hooking, needle punch, embroidery, gardening, baking, antique radios, antique cars, paint by numbers, general crafting, reading...and more...AND the list continues to grow! lol! Drives me nuts when I hear someone complain that they are bored...
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, Charles Wysocki and landscape pictures were my favorite. My mother would let me do them at the dining room table (it was very fancy to my child mind), and I would actually march Lego men around the parts depending on what was done.
ReplyDeleteI have two puzzles I'd like to do (I LOVE puzzles), one is 10k and the other is 9k pieces, so floor space has been my main issue (going to be fixed this summer!!!)
My big non-stitchy hobby is board gaming. Right now we're into a lot of Terraforming Mars, and I'm looking forward to the convention I'm going to next week with friends :)
I've never been one for puzzles, but I remember my grandmother completing huge ones that would take over the dining table. My other hobbies are scrapbooking and going to the cinema - I Love Movies!
