Oklahoma had another winter storm move in on Thursday. We had about a half-inch of ice, followed by lots of sleet and snow. In fact, it snowed all day yesterday! The ice was brief enough here that it didn't bring down our power lines. But it still seems just wrong to be thankful for sleet!
Sheba had fun in the falling snow yesterday. This would be a fantastic picture if it wasn't for the trashy toys left out in the neighbors yard. Put the stuff away when it isn't play-outside-weather!
The ice covered our Magnolia tree. When it started to melt a little we were able to slide leaf-shaped ice impressions off. I stood them up in the snow in the bird bath so you could see. Isn't Mother Nature the best artist ever?
Just in the nick of time I finished up my Snapper Year January Snows. It was a close call! I haven't put the snaps on for the snow fellow's buttons. Actually, does anyone else think Bent Creek's use of snaps is kinda strange? Is it just me? Am I missing something? I'm thinking I might find some teeny tiny buttons to use instead of the weird snaps. I know it's called a Snapper...but I just don't get it! Opinions, please!
.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Yeah, I dont understand the whole snap thing with BC either! So you're not the only one.

I don't have any suggestions for your project but I wanted to let you know I dropped by and saw your snow pics. It's crazy out there in the ice!
how fitting that your "January Snows" is done. Maybe this will be the end of the snow too, who knows. Anyway, love the finish and I too thought the snaps are a bit strange.
I Love your snow & Ice leaves picture! It is hard to think it is cold and snowing somewhere when it is 70 degrees here :) You probably didn't want to hear that :) I do miss seeing the snow so I enjoy when people show pics of it!
Your january snows is pretty! I am sure buttons would look cute on it.
Love the ice sculpture. You were brave to venture out. I'm still indoors. Your snapper is cute. The designers have to have something new to entice all us stitchers!
I've never been particularily fond of the snaps. I think buttons would look far better. He's a cute little snowman!
Stay safe in all that ice. We've had some but not nearly as much as you have. That leaf sculpture is definitely beautiful.
I like your snowy pictures, and the ice leaves are amazing!
Congratulations on finishing your January snows! It's very pretty. As for the snaps I love them! I stitched one of their small designs with snaps, and it looks very pretty. But, then I love unique!
Yep...I didn't use the snaps on mine either. I'm going to use buttons when I get around to actually framing or whatever I'm going to end up doing with it. They aren't even nice looking snaps! Congrats on your January finish :)
The "ice-scuptures" are pretty!
I love Mother Nature's ice-art! And your Snapper looks mighty fine, too! :D
IDK about the snaps, but I love the fabric this is on!! What is it? :D
Snappers = gimmick = profit. Doesn't mean I don't like the series, 'cause I do. But I think they look just as good without the snaps.
Aw! Look at the cute doggie. :D
Great finish and quite befitting considering the weather! Love the fabric pick too. I used the snaps...maybe if I was patient I would have looked for buttons. One I put them on, I wasn't about to take them off!
I've never understood the snaps either?!! Wouldn't it ruin the fabric to shove a snap through it? seems like you'd loosen the threads or something!
What a cutie the Snapper project is. I once asked a knowledgable LNS owner about the snap thing, and she just shrugged and said "it's a gimmick. Leave them off." I kept expecting there was something else with the other side of the snap, but no. So, I'm with you--just weird. Use fun buttons! We have the snow too. Good thing we like to stitch, huh?
Wow! That is a lot of snow, you got more than us this week ;) Sheba looks very happy! I love the ice art, Mother Nature is glorious indeed! I love your January snows finish, how appropriate and he is just a cutie. I say snappers are an odd idea indeed.
Hugs and stay warm

Love your snow...wish we had just a little bit here in SC. The depth perception on the ice blocks made them look so large at first! At first I thought those were some huge pieces of ice!
Love your BC finish too...love that design.
I think teeny-tiny white buttons would look nice.
I LOVE those magnolia ice "sculptures". How beautiful!
Love your ice sculpture!!!! I agree, nature is the best artist!!!!
Your snapper is really cute!!! Now that you mentioned it, I finally understand what snappers mean.... I guess I've never take a close look at them before!!!! Although I think snappers is a cool idea, buttons will look nicer in my opinion...
You've had more winter than we've had so far! Love how you got creative with the ice Mother Nature gave you. :)
I love the ice!! And great start on Snapper Year, I can't wait to see more.
Here in the Netherlands it's also snowing. I lov eit, and you can make such lovely photo's in this weather...
Love the January Snows, I think it's lovely as it is...
Love the January block! I have to find a way to tackle this one as I really do love it! I agree with the snap thing being weird though. I was going to use buttons of some sort on mine instead.
I was thinking to myself how I wouldn't put the snaps on then read your paragraph about them. I agree...they're weird.
Love the icy magnolia leaves. Mother nature IS a fabulous artist!
January Snows is gorgeous and I love the pics of your leaf shaped ice - just beautiful
Love the January snapper! I went to the Bent Creek website, and have to agree - I think the snapper thing is just a gimmick. However, when you look at the pieces all stitched together, I guess it does add a unifying element.
Love the leaf ice sculptures - glad you got a great picture of them.
Lovely stitching--a perfect partner for the snow pics. Adorable pup, too! My SIL's name is Sheeba... I'm snickering just a little bit, LOL. ;)
Love those ice sculptures Sharon and your snowman is darling!
Your "ice sculpture" is amazimg. I don't get the whole snapper thing either, why put a press stud on something if you aren't going to fasten anything to it? They aren't even pretty (the press studs that is, the designs themselves are sweet). I'd use buttons. Confidently anticipating their new range of monthly "functionless hook and eye fasteners"...
How clever of you with the Magnolia leaves - very pretty. Your pudgy little snowman looks great. I am like you, I really don't understand the snaps especially since in some of their designs they just don't make sense.
Love the ice leaves! I agree, mother nature is a wonderful artist!
I've never cared much for the snaps on the snappers. Must be why I have never stitched any of them!
Those ice leaves look great. What a good idea. I've never seen ice like that here tho.
I don't get the snaps either. I did put them on mine but I have seem them without the snaps and they were cute. Use your imagination.
OK, those ice sculptures are the COOLEST thing EVER!!! If the wintery weather continues, you could go in the ice sculpting business, lol ;)
I agree, Sharon--I'm not crazy about the snaps either. I probably would try the tiny buttons...
And all that snow! Wow! We were spared here in western PA...Pretty pictures and it looks like Sheba had a blast!
I can't believe all the snow that you're getting there. And didn't you have a ton of it around Xmas. My BFF lives near Tulsa now and she send me pictures yesterday. I couldn't believe it. And here in Michigan we've barely gotten anything. Something is definitely messed up with the weather this year. Your January Snows is adorable - and so appropriate for your weather!
I didn't find the use on that series to be that troublesome. The nice thing was, if I lost the snaps, I could buy spares in the store. The LK flip-its don't work like that
Absolutely love the ice leaves! Nice finish!
Love the ice leaves. We just had snow, nothing neat like that.
As to snaps versus button. Do whatever you want. It's your piece. Make it your own.
I don't get the snaps or the meaning of LK Flip its. But I love that snowman and he's perfect for this year.
Hope the Groundhog does the right thing!
Love the finish but then I'm biased :) and the ice leaves are fantastic
I was just wondering if your grocery store ran out of 'bread and milk'!!!!
Hope you had time for lots of stitching....
Congratulations!! your the winner from the giveaway of Doris!!!
muchas felicidades! te lo mereces :D
un gran saludo desde mexico.frocobe
Love the ice leaves, cool pic!
Sheba looks like there was lots of fun in the snow too.
Snappers never held any fascination for me, i couldnt see why they were there either LOL
Mmmm...beautiful snow.
Nice finish on January snows. He is really cute!
Nice pictures of the snow, thanks for sharing:)
Those ice shapes are really cool! Your January Snows piece is adorable.

Your ice leaves are amazing!
they look like ice sculptures. amazing! your dog is beautiful!
We don't get snow here in AZ where I live :(
What a sweet puppy.. Your ice shapes are amazing!
Great photo and cute dog.
i love thi ice sculpture that you did!
Oh wow, you DID get nailed! What a neat picture with the ice leaves. Great job!
Ohhhh, I love him!!!! I really want to stitch this series. I have no idea why the use of snaps. Cheaper than buttons? ;o)
Love the very apt stitchy finish. LOL Those ice sculptures are amazing. :0)
Can't say as the snapper thing really appeals - if I bought any it's be for the designs, not the gimmick.
You are in a winter wonderland and I love the ice leaf iimpressions. Congratulation on the finish...perfect for this time of year...hugs, Linda
I love the snow pictures !!! The ice is amazing!
