Crabby Rabbits

It's been a while since you've gotten a glimpse of Crabby, hasn't it? May's stitching went pretty fast, especially considering I didn't get started on it until the 16th. This was a very quick and easy block and really fun to stitch. Hum, I'm not exactly pleased with the three-strand Lazy Daisies and I might pull them out and try two threads. What do you think?

Here is Crabby All Year to date. Cute! I wish I could put the buttons on already. I might have to get them out and see what they will look like...if I do I'll get a photo for you.

Now, this is supposed to be a stitch-a-long project but I'm not sure who's still with me. Updates please, girls!

It took me an hour to get a photo of mom & dad House finch, who have five eggs now. I sat in the chair on the patio waiting for them to come to the feeder. Although I could hear them on the roof above me chattering (perhaps discussing whether or not I was safe to eat in front of) they wouldn't land in front of the camera. I finally got tired of sitting there and went to look at my gardens. When I turned around I was able to snap this picture of the pair on the phone lines. That is dad on the right. Best I could do...sorry, Jo. Am I still forgiven?

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Great pictures! I REALLY have to get back to my cross stitch. I think you've motivated me! Thanks!

As you can imagine, I love the rabbit square, and bought the project for that. But there are 11other squares to stitch, unfortunately--I also stitched most of taxes. But the more I see of it on your site, the more I'm inclined to stitch it also.

And LOL about your "selective reduction" of the bird's nest.

I think the three strands make it look like he took a BIG mouthful --- just like a rabbit would in the garden.

Very cute rabbit --- as long as he's not feasting in MY garden.

I love the rabbits square! I think the 3 strands on the lazy daisy stitches looks just fine...

I think the Rabbit! looks great as is. IIRC I used one strand on mine.

This rabbit is soooo cute~~ i saw a whole bunch of them feasting on the lawn when I went for a walk last evening!!! That was the first time I ever saw so many of them all together at one time~ I guess they were having a family gathering as well!!

Crabby All Year looks so lovely. The rabbit is very funny and a little hungry. Maybe to leave the 3-strand Lazy Daisies for him?

Awesome progress on Crabby! I like the 3 strand lazy daisies, it makes the leaves look nice and full. I'm ashamed to show my progress, I'm still on March!

Can't believe you have 190 followers ! :-o Maybe the most I saw for a stitching blog ;-)

I agree with D - the thicker 3 strand lazy daisies make it look like he's having a good meal!

Great shot of the finches - birds are so difficult to get good photos of! (and thank you for taking so long to get one - I'd not meant it to be an onerous task!!)

Jo said...

I also meant to say - they look similar to some of our finches, but the male is much more red than I expected!

I like your lazy daisies - they look very 3D and just like a mouthful of leaves should look :)

Your lazy daisies look terrific as is, don't rip them out.

Good job getting the picture of Mom and Dad House. :o)

I think that the three strands adds some dimension and makes it look very leafy, just like when a bun eats and has all of the extra greens gathered around his mouth before quickly disappearing with each chew. Buns are SO cute! When I had a huge veggie garden, I would always plant extra so that we had enough to share. lol

Lots of people claim that birds are dumb, but it isn't just instinct that makes them come back to your boston fern every year. How wonderful that you provide a new plant for their return!

Very nice photos, too! And yes, birds are one of the most frustrating and uncooperative subjects to photograph! As you've found out, they are much more accomodating when they are still in egg form! lol

I read back at your post on your dyed fabric. You came up with some gorgeous pieces with amazing colors.
Congrats - they are all stunning.

It is good to see "crabby" project. I love the rabbit square - and think that 3 strands add dimension to the leaves in the rabbit's mouth. I enjoy being apart of the progress of this piece, thank you for sharing it on your blog.
Have a good day,

What a guilty looking rabbit lol, I agree with everyone else, the 3 strands looks great. he reminds me of my english pointer when he is caught out doing something naughty - exact pose and expression lol

It's so cute! I think the 3-strand lazy daisies look good too. Love the rabbit, he looks so guilty, the "hand in the cookie jar" look, caught on fabric!

Wow, haven't visit in a while, so many things happened since you abandoned your stitching!

Love your Wisteria Biscornu, is coming along nicely.

And what a great fun it is to hand dye fabric. Once I used food coloring. Still have a few pieces laying around.

Sorry for the baby bird :(

And, the crabby all year looks wonderful! You had a great idea SALing it.

Hugs from hot and cold Los Teques!!!

I finished May and June this past weekend - so now I'm up a month. I'll take it with me on my trip this summer and do June, July, and August. I agree about the buttons - I'm also waiting on the lines on the April tax form.
