One of my favorite flowers is Lily of the Valley. My grandmother had this growing around her front porch. I loved to visit in the Spring and pick the lovely bell-shaped flowers that smelled so heavenly. When I married, I had Lily of the Valley flowers on my hat (silk, of course.) Over the years I have purchased root stock from various garden centers, planted them, waited in vain...no plants ever appeared.
Is there anyone out there with Lily of the Valley growing abundantly enough to send me a few? I'd be willing to send you a stitchy gift in return...
My email is in my profile and in my sidebar.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Wish I did, but alas I don't.
Hi Sharon,
I don't have any Lily of the Valley to send you but have you checked with a local garden center, local extension service, or with master gardeners in your area to see what you can do to make your environment more friendly for them?

I've tried to get lily of the valley going in my garden to but it just sulks. In my Mum's garden it is practically a weed, once its happy it suckers underground and takes over! If you do get it established, plant it at the South end of your garden, because it travels south, and then it won't take over quite so badly
None here in my condo. Interestingly, there have been about a zillion free charts lately for that flower since it's associated with May Day in France I guess.
You can't grow lily of the valley for love nor money and I'm pulling it out of my garden because it has run wild and is overtaking my garden. Unfortunately I can't send that kind of thing across the border but I can wish you well on your search.
I don't have any, but they are my second favorite flower. My first fav is Lialcs, and mine will be blooming in a week or so... aaaahhhh!
I do agreed its beautiful, unfortunately I've never seen it grown from where I am from.
I have lily of the valley coming out of my ears! I would love to send you some. What is the best way to send it?
Let me ask my mom. She has a lot of them.
Sorry Sharon :o( They wouldn't let me cross it over the border even if I did. Good luck!
You know I never thought to grow them myself I should check and see if they'll grow in Houston. Wish I had some I could send along to you, Lily of the Valley is one of my favorite scents.
I have loads in our garden - if anyone knows how I can send them from UK to you without them dying of being confiscated please let me know
Fingers crossed :)
I can send you a palm tree! :D
have you gotten any yet Sharon? I don't have a lot, but I might have a LITTLE I could share!!
I can send you a palm tree or plenty of weeds --- your choice. LOL
Lily of the Valley is one of my favorites too, unfortunately it doesn't grow down here. No lilacs either.
No wonder Florida has no "spring" -- we can't grow any flowers that say spring.
:-(
Hope you are successful in getting some, it doesnt grow well in my garden.
I don't have Lily of the Valley..Hope you find some!
