I made a new start yesterday. Just a little one. From my birthday stash, I kitted up the Bent Creek Bunny, chose a nice spring green fabric I dyed last year and pulled the DMC colors. The first thing I do with any Bent Creek I'm stitching with DMC is check the colors to the model photograph. They never match!
See the light sand colored #613? That was the color listed for the brown of the bunny. No, not the pale tummy...the brown! I substituted this nice color #3862 in brown. One that actually matches. Now, I know this was "designed" for overdyed cotton ~ but still!I only had a few minutes of stitching on this and I'm already enjoying it immensely! This little bunny will make a nice scissor fob or pin pillow. I've been stitching for suprise exchange and I do get a little frustrated not being able to share at least a little stitching!
I made toffee cream scones and tea.
Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Your in progress picture looks like the pattern front. Substitutions are sometimes very necessary.
And the scones look yummilicious!
Wish I could join you for some tea and scones.
Bunny is just too cute! Knowing me he would be turned into a scissor fob.
Teresa's Heartfelt Stitches
Cute pattern! Hey...I have the same corelle dishes!
That's one reason I love Bent Creek - quick stitches!
Your scones look tasty - not a tea girl myself - but pastries are another story!
That's a sweet bunny and flower. I like that you dye the fabric to suit you. I'll have to try that. And I agree with Jackie about the scones - they look yummy.
ooo those scones look yummy! any chance you can share the recipe? Bunny is looking very cute & I love your dye job :)
Cute bunny! And your toffee cream scones look yummie!! I thought scones were just plain and you had to add flavours lika jam and cream.
Such a cute bunny - and such delicious looking scones!
What a CUTE bunny! I can't believe those colors would have been SO off. I like your choices much better.
The scone looks wonderful! Would you mind posting the recipe?
The bunny is adorable. And I think the color you are using is fine. I often change a lighter color for a darker one.
Those scones do look yummy. :)
Cute little bunny. Good thing you checked that floss with the picture - hate it when it is so far off.
CUTEEEEE!!!!!! Wow that color was way off!
And I'll be right over for my scones and tea! Thank you!
My gosh, that bunny is cute! Love the blue fabric. =]
What a cutie! I love little things like this
Great new start. Scones and coffee sound good.
I love Bent Creek! That bunny is super cute!

OMG! YOu are so right about Bent Creek and their photod colors vs. their charted ones. I thought it was just me. I still love Bent Creek and love the little bunny start.
I know what you mean about thread colours and some designs - they look so different that I often substitute my own choice as well.
Hi,
This finish is going to be so sweet!!!!
I'm not sure which I like better - the bunny, or the scones! Now for some reason, I feel like baking...
Too cute! Toffee cream scones?? Sounds delicious!
I love that bunny -- so cute! the tea and scones look good too!
Bent Creek isn't the only one with that problem. I always check my floss now because they never seem to match the photos.
That little bunny is the perfect stitch for spring. He'll make the cutest pin pillow.
Those scones sound wonderful. It's been so long since I've baked anything. I'm afraid I'll eat it all!
Toffee cream scones? I looooovvvve toffee! Sounds wonderful. The bunny is cute!
Some colours make me laugh they're so far from the original! I do wonder if someone had gotten their colours mixed up when the numbers were recorded.
Now, where's the recipe for those scones? They look delish!! I've had a look back and can't see one, did you post one that I've missed? I have a vague recollection that you've posted one, but I could be losing my mind!
Wish you could "share" some of those scones.... they look yummy right about now!
happy stitching.....
The bunny is super-cute. I know the feeling of the colors not matching the model photo. Cameras always seem to have a mind of their own.
That bunny is adorable!!!
Your tea and cookies look tempting! Enjoy!
The bunny is way to cute and now I need to go make me some tea. LOL
VERY cute! I'm surprised at the conversion. I mean, not even close!
Wow! That color difference is unbelievable, Sharon--good thing you know to check ahead. Are Bent Creek's always like that?
The bunny is so sweet and looks like he'll be done in no time at all--have fun stitching him!
cute bunny! I noticed that when I was stitching one of my projects. The over dyed they use and the one they had at the store was completely different in color. So last Thursday I had one of the girls there help me pick out a different color. I know I changed one of the colors too because the other over dyed called for just wasn't as different as the one they had gotten.
But that's the great thing about cross-stitching, you can change the colors to suit your needs :)
He's going to be so cute!
Toffee cream scones sound wonderful - care to share the recipe?
This is looking really nice. Looking forward to seeing the finished article.
The little bunny is adorable! I often find that the colours look nothing like the photo on designs with overdyes, but that one was way out!
I am always changing colours, but that design is a bit naughty, I have never stitched them, so thanks for the nod.
The bunny is really cute.
I'm so glad it isn't just me with Bent Creek and their colours. Those scones look delish and I would just love the recipe.
Well I was all ready to comment on the bunny until I saw those yummylicios looking scones!!!
Mmmmmm ... they look and sound good! :)
The bunny looks great too though and I'm glad you managed to get the colours sorted out. Isn't it crazy that they don't match up properly!
:)
What a yummy bunny. As for the scones, I'd have to try them myself before I made a comment on them, so I'm heading your way in the hope that there will be some left for me to sample.....stick the kettle on for some tea!
What a lovely bunny.
enjoy your cup of tea
Now that I've seen that tea and scones maybe a 19 hour drive isn't that far after all :) LOL.
Love the bunny start and I couldn't agree with you more on the DMC listed in BC charts especially they are almost always way off!
You had me at scones...but TOFFEE scones??!? NOM.
I agree that DMC sub is ridiculous as designed!!! Your choice of brown is lovely.
What a cute design! And I hope you enjoyed those yummy scones :)
Super cute!!
It's almost like they have someone who is dyslexic picking out the DMC substitutes. That's very odd. I mean, it's not even CLOSE. ??
I love the Bunny! I have this chart too and think it's just the sweetest thing. Can't wait to see your finish!
Your scones and coffee look good, love the bunny chart
Hugs Chris x
I stitched this cure BC design for a bunny mad friend
Your scones look very yummy!!
A good start on the bunny.
Toffee cream scones and tea looks lovely!
very cute this little model of Bent Creek !
I love tee !!! LOL

The scones sounds wonderful! Could you share the recipe? Thanks.
