I Can't Stop Loving You

My deepest apologies for neglecting my blog for so long. My mother's death threw me off my center for a long time. The new job was a godsend helping me deal with my grief and I am approaching my one-year anniversary of working there.

Shortly after my mother"s death, I happened to hear a Ray Charles song, "I Can't Stop Loving You" and it became my anthem and solace in these sad days. One of the verses always spoke to me and I could picture them, a tiny tribute, stitched in pink.

They say that time heals a broken heart
But time has stood still since we've been apart.

I left it on my mother's pillow near the anniversary.

My dad told me later it was her favorite song.

I never knew.

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

So sorry to hear about the passing of your mother - it is so hard to lose a loved one. Gave me shivers to find out that the song in your head was her favourite song - how wonderful, really - she is still with you. Take care and be kind to yourself, my dear.

This is such a bittersweet song and I like your lovely stitched token. Loosing a mother you're clost to must sure be tough ... and yet there's so much we do not know, even of those closest and dearest to us. Your new job sounds like a chiallenge, a lifesaver and a place of normalcy all rolled into one. <3
I hope this means you're back.

Sorry to hear about your Mom's passing.
What a lovely tribute.
She must've sent that song to tell you how much she loved you.
Take care.

IT's DAFFYCAT : yes, it's so sad but think now you and your mother are near totally by heart all moments. It was through your blog that my mother kept all little threads after each cross stitch work ... and I have untill today the three glasses with her little threads from 2011 / 2012 and 2013 works ... So, Sharon, I thank your idea to keep that threads ... little pieces from my mother's hands ... always near with me ! Hugs, have a nice day ! Verginia Benedectto/São Paulo/Brazil/january 16/9:15am

So happy to see you back, Sharon... I can only imagine how hard it is to lose your mother (although I know I'll find out sooner rather than later as my mom is now 92). Your sweetly stitched pillow is such a wonderful tribute to her--treasure your memories...
