Bling & Pizazz

Photo heavy post, sorry. Have you ever tried taking a photo of a biscornu? What a difficult task. They are so oddly shaped it's hard to capture them correctly and then they cast funny shadows.

Yay, a finish! I completed the stitching and beading on Wisteria Biscornu on Thursday. Washed, ironed on interfacing and stitched it together on Friday. Pawing through my meager button collection revealed I was sorely lacking suitable buttons so Saturday I went stash shopping and found the perfect buttons. Today I sewed on the buttons.

The yellow side with butterflies, before stitching both sides together.

The green side with bees.

Ooooo, pretty!

I like the soft colors in this photo. Yellow on top.

Now the green.

This little square lavender button fit perfectly.

A larger, flower shaped lavender one for the bee side.

Thank you so much, Olga, for such a wonderful design. I truly enjoyed every minute of stitching this biscornu!

Edited to add an answer to a question in the comments: From what I understand "biscornu" is a French word meaning quirky or irregular. It was adopted by stitchers as a name for this funny shaped pincushion. These are also called tuffets.

Daffy - you are sorely testing my resolve to stop adding to my stash until I finish current WIPs. We will ignore the fact that I constantly start new projects from my stash - OK?
The biscornu is fantastically beautiful - and you did a fantastic job getting nice photos of it.
Congrats on a great finish!

So pretty, and such a neat finish. I've not stitched any biscornus because I've not thought my finishing would be up to scratch - but yours is marvellous! Well done!

Wow, its gorgeous, and the buttons are a perfect match.
If it helps next time I find them easier to photograph if I prop them up slighly at the edge furthest from the camera so they are angled slightly down towards you

Sharon - thank you so much for your lovely post about our shared wedding date! I love you so very much and having the same wedding date is so close to my heart!!! Thank you to all your "stitchy friends" for their sweet posts! I'd like everyone to know that my Aunt Sharon has so much love in her heart, that yes she cried, while she provided me with a very special keepsake... right before my wedding Sharon brought me a true sixpence to put in my shoe! I will treasure this gift forever!!! I love you Sharon, see you soon! Love, Danelle
