I'm abandoning my stitching...

A peaceful scene?

I was minding my own business; well, actually, I was reading your blog posts, which is really minding your business. But I digress...I was reading blogs when I saw something moving overhead. Glancing up, I saw a small spider charging across the top frame of the chalkboard hanging over my stitching desk. And I mean charging; this little guy was moving fast! He reaches the edge of the frame and goes scurrying around on the Hello Kitty purse hanging there. I'm sure I was sitting with my jaw dropped, watching, as he reaches and reaches trying to grab another foothold somewhere. He falls onto the button box, right under the "R" in the photo. Puzzled, I'm trying to think what to do. I don't want him on my desk but he is one speedy spider. I pick up the button box carefully, carefully, and I shriek as he takes a flying leap...where? You can see the clutter in that corner. The other corner is worse by far. I'm such a clutter-bug! Where did the little creep go? I grabbed the can of air-duster and tornadoed the desk. Vanished. Crap.

Now, I have the creeps. I don't mind spiders in general but I like knowing where they are and I don't like them on me. Little tickles, imaginary spiders, keep me skittish. Where did it go???

Here is my progress on the front side of Olenka's Stitches Wisteria Biscornu. I'm stitching this on 32 count Summer Sunshine Belfast (dyed by me.) Yes, this is what I was dyeing for last week! The colors aren't true in the photo but there are spiders creeping around this place and I'm not waiting for them to jump on me!

Be sure to visit Edgar's blog and wish him a happy blogoversary! To celebrate two years of blogging he is hosting a giveaway! Happy blogoversary, Edgar!

{{{{Shudder}}}} I hear you! Hopefully he's gone now.

So agree with you about those damn spiders! DH and I used to live in a daylight studio (with a LARGE kitchen, go figure) and had dinner-plate sized oscars (fish) AND clear looking spiders everywhere.

My agreement with said spiders were to stay in a specific corner of the kitchen or they were fish food. Many spiders failed to pay attention to my daily speech and were much loved by the fish.

I give you credit, I'd be saying more than ah crap! lol you had me rotflm*o because this is SO me too! DH laughs with the 'oh look, the big bad TKD chick is afraid of a tiny little spider?' Needless to say he's on the floor shortly afterwards with the spider saying hello to it.

Ok, thanks! Now I have the creeps too :) LOL! I used to run for the hills whenever I saw a spider but I am better now and can tolerate them around me but not on me either! The other day my daughter was sitting on the couch and the fastest, biggest spider I have seen in years ran out from underneath her feet and flew across the floor! Holy Cra*! Thankfully DH got it :)

Your WIP looks lovely, love the fabric you dyed!

I can relate to your feelings. Being allergic to spider bites, I always like to be aware of where one is, and as bad as I feel about killing one, inside the house is not an appropriate place for one to be, despite what they may think!

Your fabric and stitching is lovely, as usual! It will be fun to see your progress!

And I have to tell you, your corner is downright pristine compared to my creative jungle! Now I have this compulsion to go clean, although I will try and fight it with all of my determination!

I hope that you find your eight legged friend!

I totally understand! We have a saying in our house. Leave the little creatures alone outside (mostly), but anything in the house is fair game! Hope you locate him! Love the biscornu!

Oh, My! I had the same thing happen to me last night. I was checking my emails and saw a spider coming down the front of my monitor. On closer inspection *from a safe distance* I realized I was looking at a brown recluse. I yelled for my daughter and between the two of us we cornered it with a spatula and a cup and got rid of it!!

Hi Sharon,

But think how scared the spider is right now? Especially after the attack by the air duster! :-)

One morning I woke up and as I was in bed deciding if I wanted to get up then, I noticed that a spider was walking along the edge of the blanket about 4" from my nose. I was not happy!

I rather have one of those as opposed to mice or even worse snakes!

Love the progress on your "Wisteria Biscornu"!

If you think your computer desk is cluttered you should see mine, it could probably hide a whole battalion of spiders!

Now I'm having spidey creeps...keep itching my neck...

Yuk. I had a similar experience about a week ago. I tried to spray one with Raid, but he got away and I don't know where he went. Definitely creepy to think he's lurking and waiting to make a comeback.

Pretty stitching on pretty fabby.

Eeeew! I don't like spiders and the spider-loving cat is never around when I do see one.

Love the dye job. That will be one pretty little biscornu.

LOL ~ You are so funny! I want to know where they are too and I DON'T want them on me either. I remember lying in bed one night watching TV (lights out) and I felt a twitch around my head and did a fast swoop motion with my hand thinking it was a fly-away hair bc the fan was on. Nope! Once my hand swooped over my hair something flung itself onto the sheets on my stomach. I instantly, and quickly, turned the light on to be shocked to bits by a small spider. I was horrified and had a difficult time getting to sleep. I'll never be the same. LOL

Mel said...

*shudders* spiders are definitely no fun that is for sure.
Hopefully it doesn't keep you from stitching.

I'm the same with spiders - don't mind them per se, but like to know where (and what) they are doing...

Wisteria is so pretty - I was very tempted to get it too!

Plenty o' spiders in this house too! I'm not afraid, but really dislike them. :)

Nice stitching! The wisteria are blooming here and are so gorgeous, like your project.

Little spiders I don't mind - it's the big beggars scuttling across the floor that creep me out!
Biscornu is very pretty - gorgeous shade for the fabric. :0)

You make me laugh, but I can totally relate! Sure hope that spider surfaces in time for you to take of him!!

Lovely start and lovely fabric!;)

You sound like my husband! LOL, I am the spider killer/hunter in our house. I get a bit freaked out when they start getting really sneeky like your little friend though!

I love spiders, specially when they live outside on their natural environment lol

Once I was crocheting in my bed when I saw something black moving on my shoulder! It was a huge spider, really, it wasn't my nerves! Was about the size of the palm of my hand... I'm sure she just wanted to tip me off with some trick, you know, from one knitter to another, but I just jumped all over, got undressed the fastest you can imagine! lol

I think I won, because she ran and hid inside my yarn chest (told you, it was knitting advice what she wanted to do with me), then ALL the bedroom furniture was taken outside the house, it was necessary for me to sleep.

Sharon, I was more scared of thinking you would really leave your stitching than a poor little spider... Wait, have to check there's none on my bedroom lol

I am terrified of spiders. I keep several cans of Raid in my house so that I am never far from one and can get to it quickly if something needs to be blasted.

The biscornu is so pretty!

Hope the spider has left..
The biscornu is lovely and progress beautifully

I also don't like spiders, there was one in my loo yesterday evening so I got the creeps just before I wanted to go to bed.

Also have two useless cats, since they did not eat/kill/scare it away ;)

Julie said...

Ewwwwwwwwwww ... keep the spider, no thanks!

Love the biscornu, its so pretty.

Thanks for passing on the paranoia!! I'm arachnaphobic proportional to the size of the buggars!! Nice wip pic! (now I'm leaving before your spider crawls through the screen at me!!)

Must be the week for spiders. I noticed several around my stitching basket. I did a good dusting, brushing of the sofa and then a real good vacuum job. Hopefully that got rid of the problem.

The colors in your new cross stitch project are beautiful. I love those purples.

I can definitely relate to this post. Living in the country we have spiders all the time. I dislike them but can deal with them when I can see them. It is when they get away that I freak out a little.

Love the progress on the Biscornu too. It is going to be beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
