Pretty Pincushions

I've been really "into" pincushions lately. I find myself searching out designs for them. They are just so useful and you can create such pretty pins for them! Over the weekend I finished this one, it's pictured on the fabric I used for the back:

Design ~ Rosemary Pinkeep
Designer ~ Blackbird Designs
Fabric ~ 32 count...Jobelan? Tea-dyed
Fiber ~ DMC
Finish ~ Pinpillow stuffed with walnut shells

Then I tackled this one:

Design ~ Birds and Berries Pinbox
Designer ~ Blackbird Designs
Fabric ~ 32 count Belfast Linen
Fiber ~ DMC
Finish ~ Pinbox as per instructions
Specialty ~ Overdyed after stitching with RIT tan dye

Both of these were so much fun to stitch and finish. The pins were fun to make too! Now, there is another project to finish but I'm finding it really intimidating and I keep putting it off! Crazy, I know! This is an exchange item. I know I can do it...and do it well but I still get stage fright when I start something important!

Don't forget the New Moon is on Thursday, the 19th...everyone get those ORT jars shined up for the Totally Useless Stitch A Long!

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Oh I like them both! The fabric is beautiful too.

I have been trying my hand at pin-making lately. Yours are very nice!

You, stage fright? But you are such a talented stitcher!
Deep breath and GO FOR IT!

Someone hosted a blogger's pincushion parade earlier this year. Here's the link to my pincushions: http://sewingoutofmycomfortzone.blogspot.com/2012/01/pincushion-parade.html

A friend of mine stitched me a pincushion like your blue flowered one, but my flowers are red.

They are beautiful! I love pincushions myself. I'm even gathered some recyclable materials from work to make some of my own. Now...all I have to design are the patterns!

Lovely finishes as usual! I'm intrigued about the pins. I bought a lot of regular pins thinking to make some fancy ones with my beading supplies, haven't started yet but I was wondering whether to use glue or to secure the beads with crimps. How did you made them? They look wonderful!

Very nice stitching. I also have been enjoying pincushions. So many ways to finish and one can never have too many places to put needles and pins!

Love them both, Sharon!! And I know just what you mean about "stage fright" before finishing--for as many smalls as I've done through the years, I still get a bit nervous before finishing each one :) You can do it!!!

I love pin cushion designs too but what do you do with the finished items. I have quite a few designs I'd like to stitch but it puts me off knowing that I only need one!!

Love them both very much especially the BD oval box.
I have the pattern book and I have the box but I feel somewhat intimidated by the painting/finishing bit.
Can't wait to see the exchange piece you are doing.
