How To Make a Scarf with Your ORTs

I was reading my TUSAL blogs today and FlashinScissors made me remember a show I watched on PBS once. I'm thinking it was Sewing with Nancy? Anyway her guest showed how to make scarfs with threads. The video above isn't the show I watched but that is how it was done.

I have been saving my ORTs for ten years + and I am rather attached to them so I don't know if I could even bring myself to use them!

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Thank you for the very nice “shout out” Sharon!
I was looking through the list of TUSAL participants and visiting and commenting on some of them when I noticed your very helpful comment on my blog, for which I thank you btw. Loved the video. You reminded me I’ve seen another video years ago ..... very similar to this, but I don’t know who it was.
I think I’m inclined to agree with you in that, after only one year of saving my ORTs I’m not sure I want to take them out of their jar!
So it really is a Totally Fun, Totally Useless SAL!
Thanks for organising all of us!

What better way of saving your ORTs than using them? Asks MotherOwl, who puts all her ORTs inside temari, where they can'teven be seen.

Well that is neat! Thanks for sharing!

What an interesting idea! I used to save (hoard) my ORTS as well, but now that I am desperately trying to contain the clutter in case we get a military posting notice, I throw them out when the jar is full.

Great idea.
I have a friend who fills a last ornament of the year with that years ORT's.

I loved the video but my average ORT is only a cm long so not much use! I have used them to stuff an ornie but the last three years just live in plastic bags for no apparent reason!

Superior Threads sells their oops and leftover threads. There might be a scarf or two in there.

I have neglected my blog for the evil facebook but I haven't thrown away my orts I still collect them. I have at least 4 or 5 years worth.

I've been told "use it up, wear it out, make do or do without" my entire life, but not even my thrifty family suggested I use ORTS for anything! Thanks for the video
